Boy, it is not joke how quickly the toys will quickly take over your house! Thankfully, we are able to use the newly finished basement as a playroom for all of the toys and a fun place to play.
As a reminder, the refinished basement started as this, using furniture and items we had...not a bad place to start, but not playful or inspiring!
To add some fun to the space, I wanted to add art that is inspiring, timeless and not too child-like because this room wears many hats (game-day man-cave). I had seen an awesome alphabet wall on Pinterest and thought it would be just the thing!
So, with the below inspiration in hand, I set off to complete another Pinterest Mission: A Larger than Life Alphabet Wall.
It was as easy as A-B-C-D-E:
Step A: Wander around your house looking for odds & ends that could become an alphabet letter. Don't forget your Christmas storage boxes. Keep an open mind! This is especially easy if you are a
hoarder collector of awesome things. I found some fun "letters" including a horse shoe, a small pair of ski's and an old damaged globe.
Step B: Place your random collection around the room to determine what you can work with.
Step C: Once you have the "letters" you can work with, lay them out to get an idea of how they will look on the wall. Use this as a guide to help determine what letters and sizes you will need to buy. I'd say when it was all said and done, I probably had to buy less than 10 letters.
(If I had more patience, I probably could have come up with more, but I'll admit I wanted my garage parking spot back!)
I think the aphablet wall has added the inspirational, colorful and playful touch to the playroom that I was hoping for! Added bonus-the colors complement the DIY pallet flag art. hanging over the fireplace.
I think the will help us get into a Playful State of Mind!
(Pinterest) Mission Accomplished.
