Last week I showed you how I recently gave our back porch a little TLC. Without spending much money, the space has some personality and now we have a more enjoyable place to hang this summer.
Another project that helped keep the costs down was re-purposing some old faded outdoor pillows that had seen better days. Yep, I turned old pillows into lake-house inspired accessories…
using an old striped beach towel.
Previously, I used aqua and brown to accessorize. Lately, I am digging more colorful spaces and especially loving the navy and coral combo. So this year we went with navy, lime and orange combo.
The best part about not spending much is that when you
are indecisive want a change, or things get ruined, you just don’t sweat it.
A nice bonus is that the beach towel helps give that lake house feel and the fabric should hold up pretty good in the elements.
(that said, I will keep the pillows in the outdoor storage box when we are not using them.)
Outdoor fabric would have worked too but that wold have involved a trip to the fabric store, and lets face it people- I do not need any more fabric!
So the best part of this was that I used items I had around the house. Oh yeah, and did I mention this was a no-sew project? Just used some Fabri-Tak to glue the towel pieces and it came together in a couple 5 minute increments.
(I’m telling you, it’s how most of my projects get done!)
I would love to hear about it!
