Today I am here with a really quick and simple project- forcing Paperwhite bulbs for Christmas. Although I am kind of tardy to the party on this post since I intended to actually show mine bloomed for you. Hey, better late than never. 🙂
A couple years ago I popped in a friends house in early December and her mudroom was full of, what looked like, empty vases. However, she showed me how she was forcing Paperwhites for Christmas.
I have been wanting to try this and figured the 30 Days in a State of Mind series was the perfect excuse. The white flowers are so classic and perfect for Christmas.
I bought a bag of bulbs from Home Depot ($10 or so?) and meant to plant them weeks ago. Finally, over the weekend, I grabbed a couple vases from the cupboard, some pebbles from the yard and dropped the bulbs in.
Apparently, it's that easy. We shall see! They can take 4-6 weeks so while mine may not be ready for Christmas, they may be just what I need to brighten the house in January! I am optimistic because I checked them last night and they are already sprouting roots. (This kind of made my night.)
Oh, it's the little things y'all! 🙂
So tell me, have you ever done this? Is it as fool-proof as it sounds?
Southern Living has a great tutorial, but it is pretty straightforward! Since mine haven't even budded- here are some bloomed Paperwhites for your viewing pleasure!
Stone Gable's Paperwhites are amazing! Actually, her whole set up is a knock-out! So dreamy.
Love this idea for a mason jar gift from Uncommon Designs! This is going on the list for next year!
Dear Lillie made an awesome vignette with Paperwhites.
Love this one with old book pages and white dish.
