Honestly, I haven’t put much thought into the new year. I wish I could say that I had a big plan with inspired goals laid out. But really my big plan is to
survive focus on raising my babies and loving my husband. Every. Single. Day.
That being said, I am also giddy with ideas that have been swirling in my brain for the past few months that I want to tackle around the house. I don’t know if it’s the new year, the fact that the holidays are over, or that I am perhaps coming out of the new baby fog but ooo-weee I am ready to pull out my paint brushes and swaddle myself in fabric!
But here is the thing.
I kind of don’t know where to start.
So, I will do what I always do – write it down and start pinning. Now you know I believe that your home is a state of mind and not a to-do list. This is not a to-do list, but a way to hopefully help me focus. It will certainly be fun to come back to this list and see if my goals changed throughout the year.
And by “if” I mean, when.
Alright, so in no particular order, here is what we have in store:
1. Master Bedroom
It is so cliche, but so true. Why is the master always the last room to get attention? As I sit here typing this, I am actually amazed at how truly bland our room is. It really wouldn’t take much to infuse a little personality into this space.
Ever since we transformed our formal dining room into a fourth bedroom and closed off the wall in the foyer, it has been a bit lack-luster. I even borrowed the dresser that was there for the guest room so it is really not feeling the love. I am thinking BOLD and BEAUTIFUL. Maybe even over-the-top.
3. Guest Room
Speaking of guest room, talk about a snoozer. We created this space back in April from what was a formal dining room, and while it is functioning perfectly for our family, it has zero style. Like ZERO. Honestly, I haven’t spent more than 10 minutes thinking about this room since the contractor left. Time for a makeover!
4. Master “Hers” Closet
The husband and I each have our own closet and it’s about time mine got organized. OK, don’t get too excited. We live in a 50’s rancher so this space is TINY. It is currently a hot mess and I believe that with a little TLC I can make it functional and purty.
Can’t find a darn thing.
5. Master Bathroom
We redid our master bathroom in April down to the floors and I have yet to blog about it.
Or hang a picture.
Or pretty much do anything to it.
It is literally a blank slate.
Mwa, ha, ha, ha….
This is my happy place. But it could be so much HAPPIER. I mentioned that I snagged an under-utilized toy closet in our basement to make a craft space late last year. It has truly become my little mom cave and I just feel inspired when I sit in it. (What can I say, stacking my washi tape makes me happy.) I think I can pack some punch into this space and make it feel like “me”!
PS: Did you hear? Lilly is coming to TARGET?!?!?! OMG! Super pumped… more to come on this for sure!
Well, I must say, we will have plenty to discuss this year won’t we? Now, which project to start first? I think the Master Closet is calling my name. And I have visions of pale pink, gold and navy. I better stop pinning and start working!
What are your home goals for the year?
