Happy Monday! Hope you had a great weekend. Ours was so special because I got to spend it celebrating my sister’s birthday. It’s always such a treat when she comes in town. I also managed to squeeze in finishing and photographing the Living Room for the One Room Challenge reveal on Wednesday so be sure to check back here. Putting the final room together always takes so much longer than you plan for, but it feels great to have the room done. I had to finish it early (yes, that means 5 weeks to do the room instead of 6) because we left for Brian’s company work trip yesterday. So I will be checking in this week from the road. I tell you, it takes a village and I am so thankful for mine lately.
OK, so let’s talk Christmas. Can you believe there are only 6 more shopping weekends left until Christmas? Crazy right? I am just starting to think about my shopping list and have decided that this year, I am going to make an effort to support small businesses as much as possible. I know I will still make many runs to Toys ‘R Us and Target this Christmas. I am positive Amazon will be delivering to my door. But I also know that I will be looking for any opportunity to support small businesses, and I encourage you to join me!
I feel very fortunate that this blog has become somewhat of a small business for me, which has definitely given me a bigger appreciation for small business owners. Whether it is a full time job, something done on the side to support their family, or just a passion they are following- owning a small business means putting yourself out there and is hard work.
While shopping this year, I encourage you to look for ways to support local artists and small business owners. Etsy is a great online source, local boutiques and gift shops, non-chain restaurant gift cards, and of course, there are always community gift shows this time of year. If you are local here in Atlanta, this coming weekend is the Northside Methodist Preschool Gift Show and a great way to show support for local small businesses. This show is full of great stuff, so make your list, check it twice, and come out to shop. If you aren’t here in Atlanta, I encourage you to find something similar in your area!
