If your mom doesn’t have an old gift bag filled with other old gift bags, is she even a mom? Ha ha, how many of you can relate to this? Well, it turns out I have turned into my mom!
So. Many. Gift Bags.
So for today’s 20 Minute Organizing post- let’s talk wrapping paper organization. Up until a few weeks ago I had gift bags filled with other old gift bags stored under the bed, ribbon stored in a closet and wrapping paper pretty much tucked all over the house. I promise I used to be organized… but then life happened! That is why I love these little 20 Minute Organizing installments- it always feels so great to tackle one particular problem area and come up with a long term solution for whipping things into shape around here.
For my wrapping paper solution I decided to clear out two under used drawers in our laundry room and turn then into my “Official Wrapping Paper Station.” See what I did there- was hoping that if I capitalized it, it will feel more special! Because in all reality- there is not much special about this…It’s just a super simple idea that I hope sparks you to tackle in your own home!
Once the drawers were cleaned out, I went hunting through the house and corralled all of my wrapping paper supplies. Wow- I definitely had more than I realized and needed. Once it was all in one place it was easy for me to decide what to keep, toss, donate and use up.
For the top drawer, I just found a couple canvas baskets that fit in the drawer to corral ribbons, gift tags, tape and scissors.
Can we just stop right here and talk about how amazing it is to open this drawer and have dedicated tape and scissors sitting right here JUST for this purpose? It’s the little things in life!
For the bottom drawer, I had these Ikea magazine storage boxes and they were perfect for helping to corral the gift bags and tissue paper. I just sorted the gift bags from large to small and then added the full rolls of wrapping paper along the front. I bad a few rolls where the wrapping paper didn’t fit so I took it off the roll and folded it.
Again- nothing earth shattering here and I used what I had on hand. But I am absolutely loving this solution and know this will certainly come in handy this Christmas. Good thing I can hide Christmas presents under clean clothes that need to be put away since I am the only one in my family that seems to do that. 🙂
Christmas here we come! Yay for having 10 out of 20 spots organized of my 20 goal in 2020.

ha ha Heather…I think I recognize some of that wrapping paper from my stash that you and Wendy cleaned out a couple months
ago! I put all my ribbon through a dowel rod and hung in my craft closet, it works well. Thanks for all the organizing tips!
