Happy Friday!
Part of me is SUPER excited-
Only two more work weeks left until Christmas!
I am taking off the entire two weeks over the holidays- yay!!
But part of me is kind of freaking out.
Only two more work weeks left until Christmas!
Today I am going to share a quick tip with you on how I made a green garland for my mantel. I am calling this a green garland for several reasons:
First, it’s green. #DUH
Second, it is made from yard clippings.
Third, it cost zero green dollar bills.
So.
This was how my mantel started.
I pulled the driftwood wreath I got from Restoration Hardware last year over and called it a night.
Snoozer. Yawn. Not festive.
But with a few free clippings, it is now warm and inviting!
For my clippings, I first hit up Home Depot.
Do you know they have crates of Christmas tree clippings from when they package their trees?
I promise they won’t mind if you go grab a few.
Tell them I sent you and said hi. 🙂
Once you have these large clippings- just snip them up to the size you need and start tucking them around to form your garland.
Next up? Magnolia leaves.
We have a couple Magnolia trees in our yard. But these are not actually from our yard. You see, our leaves are too high. So, I just went for a stroll in our neighborhood with Mr. Big Stuff and brought my scissors. I don’t think Mrs. Brown will miss a few leaves from her tree! 🙂
Just add these leaves to your Christmas tree clippings.
For the finishing touch – a pop of red.
While also on this lovely evening stroll,
I cut a few holly berries from some bushes.
So free. So festive.
I love having fresh cut greenery in my home!
The best part?
When the holidays are over- no storage is needed. Score.
I can just build a new green garland next year!
Happy weekend!
I didn't know Home Depot had stray sprigs! Hmm… I may have to hit up my local HD this weekend!
The wreath is pretty cool, but the greenery really makes it!
