This post is brought to you by the good people at At Home and this year’s HGTV Spring House.
Are we having fun yet this week? So far, we have sent our Derby party invites out, started the One Room Challenge, and swapped it like it’s hot. But we aren’t done yet! If you are like me, around this time every year you start to dream about your outdoor spaces. So let’s take our efforts outside and work on getting our back porch into back porch “sitting” shape today.
Aaaah, spring. The time of year when you start dreaming of relaxing afternoons napping on the porch, or maybe sitting in rocking chairs catching up with friends. It’s the time of year where you envision pretty pots of flowers, freshly cut lawns and casual evenings grilling out.
But if you are like me, your back porch currently might look something like this:
A hodge podge of furniture, barren planters and at least one inch of pollen covering just about everything in sight. Yikes. Y’all, we only have 4 short weeks until the Kentucky Derby party and we need to get this back porch feeling like a welcoming spot for our guests.
And boy do we have our work cut out for us.
Well, I am THRILLED to be working with At Home and the 2016 HGTV Spring House to give our back porch a much needed makeover. And just in time to cheers with some Mint Juleps in our hands!
I’ve already been brainstorming on how I’d love to transform this space. We really use every square foot of our home and it is important to me to make this area feel like an extension of our home. To me, this is “bonus” square footage and I like to make it into a comfortable outdoor “room” where we can hang out through summer and well into fall.
Of course, my vision starts with navy. Because if you have been here long, you are well aware that #navyismylovelanguage. Since I really want this space to feel like a room in our home, it only makes sense to carry the navy color scheme out here. I took a look at the At Home website and I put together an inspiration board for my upcoming shopping trip. (local tip: there are two At Home locations in Atlanta, one up in Kennesaw and one in Norcross) Although selections may vary from online at the store, I figured it would be helpful to have a vision.
What do you think? Does this room make you feel like you want to pop in for a glass of wine…. then realize the bottle is gone? #porchgoals Honestly, I am kind of shocked that my vision doesn’t have bright bold colors since I usually use lots of colors outside. But I am just kind of loving the navy and khakis with pops of colors. I can’t wait to head to the store next week and will be sure to share what I find. And of course, I will be sharing the “afters” once it’s ready to go!
To the weekend and back porch sitting! xoxo-
Heather
