Happy New Year friends! I hope your holidays were filled with sweet family filled memories. With the boys being out of school for the past 25 days I am still in quite a bit of a holiday fog and haven’t quite hit the ground running this year. In fact, if you follow me on Instagram, you know I officially already declared February 1st as the official start of my new year! While I’ve merely dipped my toe into embracing 2018, it always does feel good to start a new year with a fresh slate. That said, I thought I would take a few minutes to reflect back on my favorite memories of 2017.
Last year was the 5th year authoring this little ol’ blog and I am so thankful for a creative outlet, friendships and the opportunities it brings. Since deciding to be home with the boys three years ago it has become the place to help me stay organized and channel my creativity and writing. I definitely wish I had more time to work on it but this season of life is a season of unpredictability so I am learning to embrace it and try my best at balancing mom life with blog life. Some days I wonder why I keep plugging along here but then quickly remember that this helps keep me sane. 🙂
Before charging ahead into 2018 let’s take a quick look at some of my favorite moments from 2017:
- We Bought a New House!
This by far was the biggest moment of the year for us. We moved from our home sweet home of seven years right up the street and it has been such a joy getting settled in the new place. While we have so much still to do, I did share a few areas of the home here if you want to get caught up so far. I know this year we will continue to keep plugging away and I will of course keep you in the loop!
2. Sweet P started Kindergarten!
My sweet little man turned six and started kindergarten on the same day and this mama heart nearly exploded. So far, it has been just as sweet as pre-school and we are fully adjusted to the new routine. Well….maybe not the whole 6:50AM bus stop time, but will that ever feel normal?
3. We took our first family vacation!
A big highlight of the year was taking the crew down to Jekyll Island for spring break. Sure, we had been on countless trips to the beach before together but never just the four of us in a hotel. It felt so great to finally have the days of diapers, bottles, naps and pack-n-plays behind us. I can’t wait to see where 2018 takes us!
4. Named a Better Homes & Garden 2017 Stylemaker!
Why yes, I’d love to visit New York City with some of blog besties and get hosted by Better Homes & Gardens all while learning lots of new things. This was certainly a super fun girls weekend!
5. Shared more style favorites here on the blog.
We all have to get dressed. And we all want to look cute. So while many days I am rocking leggings and a top knot, on those days I do pull myself together I love having real inspiration to help me tackle my closet. I figured I would share some style posts here with you and it has been a fun way for me to spark some inspiration. I hope to continue more of this in 2018.
6. Sister Getaway
Similar to our “first” family trip to Jekyll, my sister and I planned our “first” sister weekend in Asheville. Sure, we see each other all the time, but it is always filled with chaos, chaos and more chaos. What a treat to spend 48 hours just the two of us!
7. A White Christmas in Atlanta!
What a shock it was to have such a beautiful blanket of snow here in Atlanta in December! That is a weekend I will never forget!
Phew! This season of life sure has a way of zooming by doesn’t it?!? I’ve been thinking alot about my goals for 2018 and am so excited to see what this new year brings. I’d love to hear from you too- what were your highlights from last year? What would you like to see more of here?
Happy 2018! (starting Feb 1st :))
xoxo-

Loved reading all your special times of 2017. Time is flying by too fast. I hope you and your sister can plan another get away this year and one every year going forward. Love the new house and what you’ve done with it so far!
