Is your bedroom sitting at 90% done? Use these Five Ways to Accessorize a Bedroom to finish it! With just a few extra steps and accessories, the room will feel complete. Why not just finish that room already?!
Guess what?! I FINISHED the guest room refresh. Now, this may not seem like a big deal to you, but around here I usually get a room to around 90% done and then it takes way too long to finish that last 10%. I’ll start a room refresh and then someone gets sick, and then we go on vacation and then I start to refresh another room, and then it’s summer, and then I clean out my closet, and then someone else gets sick and then it’s the holidays and then a year later I remember I was supposed to finish up the room! But this time I knew it just needed a few more little touches to make it feel “done.” So I am excited to share my Five Ways to Accessorize a Bedroom with fun simple accessories with you today! (Click here to get caught up on Phase 1 of the Guest Bedroom Refresh)
Now, let’s be honest. Rooms around here are never really “done.” Sure, I will call it done and in my mind it is at a stopping point. But most likely, I will always continue to tweak them. It really takes the pressure off knowing that it can always be changed later. So let’s take a look at the five pieces I added to the room to make it feel “finished.”
Five Ways to Accessorize a Bedroom
1. AREA RUG
This room is pretty small. What you see in these pics is what you get, and I am standing in the doorway to take this picture. Since the king bed takes up most of the room, there isn’t much space for a large area rug. Instead, I went with a runner for this little spot. It helps add depth and warmth to the space, and it adds texture but doesn’t compete with the rest of the room.

2. LARGE FOCAL POINT ART
You know I am always picking up frames from the thrift store and I had this big one that I picked up for a couple bucks sitting in storage just waiting to be used. I really was stumped for what to put up on the wall since the duvet has such a busy pattern. When I turned the original art over in the frame, I realized it was just a white poster board. So I just grabbed some green paint and went to town. Just like my DIY dining room chairs, I (very loosely!!) followed the Les Touches fabric pattern.
Is it perfect? NO! Do I care? NO! It’s better than a big blank white wall. I love how it pulls from the fun green light fixture, but similar to the rug, it doesn’t compete with it.
3. SMALL GROUPED ART
I had these four black frames also in storage so I just popped some free botanical art in them and hung them on either side of the window.

4. GREENERY / FLOWERS
OK, here is the thing. I love fresh flowers. I mean- who doesn’t, right? But unless I have guests coming or my Camelia is in bloom, I am not exactly placing fresh flowers in vases in the guest room. So I found this cute little faux floral arrangement to sit on the nightstand. I love how simple it is to keep the nightstand clear, but it adds just a little something.
5. STATEMENT PIECE
Last but not least, I added a fun statement piece. This faux antler decor was also in storage just waiting for a home and it adds a fun little quirk to this wall.
I hope these five ways to accessorize a bedroom inspired you. If you have a room that is sitting at 90% done, I encourage you to just finish it! Hang the pictures, hang the curtains, add the finishing touches. It really doesn’t take much and remember these little details are what give the room personality. Have fun with it! And the best part is that you will have a sense of accomplishment and that last 10% won’t bug you every time you walk in the room!

Is there a way to see the “before” pics of your guest room, Heather?

Though time spent in the bedroom is mostly when you are sleeping, who doesn’t like a pretty, inviting and comfortable place? You have so many great colors and beautiful pieces to set off each area.
