Front Porch Coffee Talk

in Front Porch Coffee Talk on 10/10/19

It’s fall break around here! Woo wee! This week seemed to fly by, probably because I was skipping around on our gorgeous fall days. We have a few extra days off for our break to enjoy the weather and I am excited to be spending it with the family. You know the drill,  grab your coffee (and pumpkin spice creamer) and let’s get chatting on the front porch.

Haunted Front Porch

Speaking of the front porch, I finally pulled the tubs out and decorated ours for Halloween this week. I cannot wait to share all of the pictures here with you here next week. I truly enjoy decorating this space for Halloween every year!

Style My Closet Challenge

Rachael and I are still plugging along with the Style My Closet Challenge. Today is Day 11- and it really has been a “challenge” to get dressed in the theme every day.  Last weekend was tough since we traveled but I haven’t missed a day yet. I shared this picture below on Tuesday over on Instagram and got lots of questions about my “scarf”. It was Mad for Plaid day and I wanted some extra plaid, but it was too hot to wear a scarf. So I made “scarf necklace”. I just took a thin scarf and folded it long ways. Then I just made a big knot in the center. From there, I added a knot on both sides and then just tied it in a knot behind my neck. Boom- a scarf necklace!

Braves Party

We hosted a super impromptu Game 5 Braves Party on Wednesday night. The weather was set to be fantastic and with a 5pm game time, we figured it was the perfect recipe for a fun night. We invited our neighbors and friends and I had it catered by our favorite Mexican restaurant. Well, if you watched the game you know why we are now referring to our Braves party as a Braves Memorial Service. Guess our front door was actually quite appropriately decorated for it! But we still had a great time and happy to have had a reason to enjoy these beautiful rare fall days!

Sweet Mystery Reader

Big Brother got to read to Little Brother’s class this week and I thought my heart would explode the whole time! The extra special part is that Big Brother was once in the same classroom with the same teachers, so they enjoyed seeing how much he has grown as well. Such a sweet little moment to remember with these two.

Plaid Shirt Perfect for Fall

I grabbed this plaid tunic a few weeks ago and was finally able to wear it last weekend when the temperatures dropped. Doesn’t it just look like a pumpkin spice latte to you? 🙂 It’s on sale for $20 and I plan on wearing it layered with the cream sherpa vest I shared last week.

A Go-To Little Black Dress

Last weekend we hopped up to Charlotte for the hubby to play in a friend’s Member/Guest golf tournament. I found out a few days before that we had a formal event Saturday night! Thankfully I had a “little black dress” dry cleaned and ready to go! It’s not a secret that the little black dress is a must in a ladies closet. However, this statement used to stress me out. I didn’t have “THE” go-to little black dress. But now that I have “THE ONE”, I get what all the hype is about.  The fabric, the fit, the style- I am just so comfortable in it! I bought it last year for a family wedding and it was not easy to find “the one”. But I encourage you to go on a quest if you don’t already have one in your arsenal.

Golden Girls Costumes

I don’t know why, but I just find this entire thing hilarious. Did you hear that they made official “Golden Girls” costumes this year? What a hoot. I sent it to my girlfriends and everyone was trying to decide who they would be. But the funniest part to me is that it is completely sold out! I think this would be a fun costume to track down at the thrift store with friends. Thank you for being a friend…Traveled down a road and back again…

Faster Way to Fat Loss

As I mentioned I started following the Faster Way to Fat Loss program and despite the hectic schedule and travel, I am seeing results. Admittedly with the travel to NYC and Charlotte, I got a little behind on the videos and am working to get caught up. If you are looking for a program to help you get on track with a healthier liftestyle and lots of reminders and support to keep you accountable- this is worth checking out! My coach is starting a new round on Monday which gives you just enough time to complete the program before the holiday craze.

Wonder

The family and I just rewatched the movie “Wonder” and it really just gets me every single time!  I mentioned this to some friends at dinner the other night and was surprised that neither had heard of it. Highly recommend if you need a good family movie this weekend. (I’d say ages 5 and up would enjoy) I am sorry in advance if you can’t stop crying from the sweetness.

Happy weekend! (and fall break)

xoxo-

Heather

That plaid poncho you are wearing is PERFECT! I would wear it almost daily, if the weather would ever cool off!
