Hi friends and happy Friday! Hope your week was great. Ours was short due to our fall break and it seemed to go by at lightning speed. We are counting down the days until Halloween and I can definitely tell the holiday excitement starting to build around here. Grab your coffee and let’s chat!

HALLOWEEN COSTUMES
There have been some major Halloween costume discussions happening around here, but as of today- WE STILL DON’T HAVE OUR COSTUMES. Y’all, this is a code red because we have been doing family costumes the past 5 years since Sweet B was born. For me to pull together 4 costumes in the next two weeks might get interesting. I told the boys they could be whatever they wanted, but Sweet P is insistent on us still doing a family costume. The problem is- they can’t agree on what we should all dress up as! I am giving them a deadline of this Sunday to come to an agreement. Here we are in 2017- I’d say this one will always be my fave!
HOLIDAY OUTFIT
I may not have Halloween costumes figured out, or a single Christmas gift bought… but I think I found my holiday outfit! Isn’t this blackwatch top adorable? I just love it with that pop of pink with her shoes. Use the code FUN15 to get 15% off and it has free shipping and returns- making it $84. I think I can justify that price knowing I can grab it all December long!
FALL BREAK
At the very very very very very very last minute, we scooted down to the beach for Fall Break last weekend with some friends. It was a quick trip and it was perfection. Our house was located right outside of Seaside and we could ride our bikes to everything! The best part is that I took 4 pictures- TOTAL. I completely unplugged from my phone and social media. And I read this entire book- Summer of ’69– in one day when I was there. Cover to cover. This picture was one of the four pictures I took the whole time! (which is not like me at all, in case you haven’t noticed, I tend to snap lots of pictures!)
Sidenote- this was my friend Rachael’s book, and it was on my “to-read” list. I had the book Little Fires Everywhere, which was on her “to-read” list. So we decided to do a book swap and mail each other our books. By using the media mail rate at the post office- it only cost us each $3.47 to mail the hard back books to each other from Atlanta to Chicago. Much cheaper than both of us buying them new. Win win for everyone!
WITCH LEGS
I made this fun witch leg planter last year using items from the Dollar Tree. Apparently people are liking it, because it is getting some serious pins over on Pinterest! I noticed that Dollar Tree was carrying the same witch leg door hanger again this year if you are feeling witch-crafty! 🙂
CROCK POT WEATHER
We had some wonderfully brisk fall temperatures this week and it definitely called for pulling out the crock pot. I made white chicken chili and cornbread for dinner and it hit the spot. I really want to get better at making soups and chili so if you have any tried and true recipes- send them on over!
PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE
Confession: I have never had a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte. Is that even legal? Anywho- I grabbed this creamer from the store and it is a fun little change to my morning routine. Creamer in my coffee is my JAM. I don’t consider myself very high maintenance, but I travel with my own creamer and it really can make or break my morning! 🙂 I usually use this brand in the Vanilla flavor- it only has 15 calories per serving!
But honestly, I don’t get the whole PSL craze?
HALLOWEEN FAMILY NIGHT
I sifted through the drawers and dug up some Halloween jammies for the boys and am planning to have a Halloween family night this weekend. I have been taking note of the best Halloween decor around our neighborhood for a Halloween Pajama Twilight Drive. I thought we could get into our Halloween jammies, go see the haunted homes and then watch a Halloween movie. I mean, why wait for Christmas for the fun stuff, right? Alright friends! Loved “chatting” with you. Happy weekend!
xoxo-

Yes to all of thus! I need to get a little further with your “little fires everywhere”, but I am so ready to throw the boys in the car in Halloween jammies and have a fright night in the neighborhood!

Loved our chat! I just finished “Where the Crawdads Sing”. Amazing book! I also watched Delia Crews’s interview on “Sunday Morning” (via the Internet). It gave some insight into her background which gave rise to the book (which was about 10 years in the writing!). Long story to say “thanks for mentioning that this was one of your summer reads”. That piqued my interest, so I read it. I am preparing a review of it for my study club next month! Thanks! I really enjoy your blog. You are my daughter’s age! I love to keep up with what is happening in the life and times of the younger crowd!

You did finally come up with a family theme and it was adorable, as always! Your front porch looks great!
