Hey friends! Hope you are having yourself a merry little weekend! I had a few more posts I had intended to share with you here this past week, but then the boys and I went doooooooooowwn with strep. It’s funny how quickly all of the very-important-to-do-lists get replaced with Christmas movie marathons and pajamas. It really makes me feel so grateful for our overall health- because all I kept saying was “this too shall pass…”
And it did! We are all on the mend and with plenty of time to pull off Christmas! So with that, let’s grab some coffee and catch up for a few minutes. It’s time for our Front Porch Coffee Talk.
I had some fun setting our Christmas table in the dining room! It still needs the finishing touches, but it’s nice to have it started. We are hosting various family Christmas Eve and all throughout the day Christmas so this table will get used for various meals.
I even ordered some fun battery operated fairy lights for the centerpiece! Fun fact- when my MIL gave me these Christmas dishes 9 years ago (before we had kids), I begrudgingly took the tub and pushed them to the back of the attic. Now, I am so thankful for them! I guess my point is this- if you give your kids something that you love and they don’t seem excited- don’t fret. The timing just may not be right!
Last spring my Dad ran power out to this part of the yard and I have been meaning to string some lights up here since then. No time like Christmas to make it happen! It doesn’t look like much, but makes a huge difference when it’s dark so I know this will be appreciated once warmer nights arrive.
We are taking the boys skiing for the first time this winter! I am so excited, haven’t been skiing since before the kids were born. I found these boots at Target and thought they would be fun to wear on our trip. They are a fraction of the cost for Sorel snow boots. It’s hard to justify the cost on expensive snow boots since we rarely get snow around her. The reviews say they are warm and they come in a cute tan color too!

I shared our Nutcracker collection in my home tour, but I must admit- I am finding SO much more joy in them this year than ever before. I think it’s because I didn’t feel pressure to pull every single one out and just picked my favorites. Where is the rule that says every single Christmas thing must come out every year? It is so freeing to edit and I found that it actually made me feel more creative.
Speaking of being more creative with them, here you can see how I selected a few for a fun kitchen vignette using the ballerinas, a baker and one of my faves that I named Sir Elton.
The card garland I hung in the hallway has quickly been filled with darling families and I couldn’t love it MORE!
Bullseye has been having some major shenanigans this year- but I think the boys fave was when he brought s’mores.
If you don’t already follow me on Instagram- I would love to see you over there! You can find me @SouthernHeather. Here is a sampling of what I have been sharing this holiday. Some of it you see here, but some of it is just the day to day stuff.
Well, with that I am signing off for the holidays. Wishing you and your family a blessed holiday season creating beautiful holiday memories. From Our Holiday Porch to Yours- Merry Christmas!

So sorry you and the boys were sick; glad y’all are well and enjoying the holidays. The flu has been making life difficult for my family, but all are now on the mend. Merry Christmas! See you in the new year (2020)!
