Hello and happy Friday friends. While all of the days seem to blur together, there is definitely still a more relaxed feeling on the weekends around here. So let’s celebrate making it to the weekend and through week six of this hot mess express we are all on. Wow. Six weeks since the world as we knew it flipped upside down! It really is crazy how I am still on a roller coaster of emotion EVERY. SINGLE DAY. Do waves of grief hit you at random times too? I was completely fine yesterday, then I went to clean out my son’s closet- and boom- as I was folding his uniform shirts I started crying. I cried for the abrupt end to his school year and how he will never get to go back to the place he loves. I cried for his teachers who are doing such an amazing job. Then I cried for my youngest who won’t get to attend his preschool graduation ceremony and a for a sweet memory that we won’t get to tuck away in our hearts. It’s always good to allow myself to have these moments, but then I just remember to focus on the positives! I would love to hear your quarantine confessions, so grab your coffee and meet me on the porch for this week’s Front Porch Coffee Talk.
20 SPOTS in 2020 | 20 MINUTE ORGANIZING UPDATE
Well what do you know??!! I actually organized something this week! Back in January I kicked off a new personal challenge- to organize 20 spots in my home in around 20 minutes or less in 2020. The goal is to tackle those small areas that just need some organization TLC. Honestly- I had completely forgotten about this challenge because a little something else came up (ahem… a PANDEMIC) so it felt great to tackle another spot this week. This time, I gave our cleaning supplies a good purging and created a new system for keeping them organized. Our mudroom has six lockers, and this extra one was haphazardly storing extra cleaning supplies. But after a few minutes- it is the official cleaning supply closet and everything officially has a spot. And I was able to clean out extra bottles under our sink as well. YAY for knocking out my fourth organization nook for the year.

COTTON CANDY GRAPES
Have you ever heard of Cotton Candy grapes? They are green grapes that magically taste like cotton candy. Seriously- how did they make them so tasty? They are a huge hit around here. Our grocery store had them last week and it was a fun “treat” for the boys! I think they are seasonal, so if you see them- grab them!
QUARANTINE WIN OF THE WEEK
I know we are all doing our best to keep things fresh and interesting every week with our kids. This week to mix things up- I pulled out our Mickey Mouse pancake press and we had a festive and cheerful breakfast. We have done cinnamon rolls a few times as well for “special” weekend breakfast times. I think we are all looking for fun new ways to mix things up- so I have now passed this around to my neighbors as well to help give them a little something special for their mornings.
PORCH LIFE
Pollen season is over so I have been slowly sprucing up the front and back porch using things from around the house. We have spent SO MUCH TIME on our porches over the past six weeks and I am just so grateful for these spaces in our home. We have also been so blessed with one of the most unbelievable springs I can remember here in Atlanta so we are just soaking up this weather.
I updated my “PORCH LIFE” category to reflect all of the recent porch content if you are looking for some new ideas for your own porch! And here is my front porch last year where I gave myself a $20 budget to bring it back to life.
QUARANTINE CONFESSIONS
Turns out, I probably should have developed more hobbies besides “going out to eat”….
Now off the grocery store- aghhhhh- SO MUCH PRESSURE! 🙂
From my porch to yours- XOXO,
Heather

Hi Heather.
I have written to you before telling you how much I enjoy your posts. I wanted to touch base now. What a time we are living in. I am in Canada. We are so different here. We are all at a stay at home order. And everyone here pretty much stays home. My daughter and husband are essential workers and because of this my granddaughter comes to our home Monday till Friday. So I understand totally when you said you had a cry when you were looking at the school clothes. I did the same when my granddaughter came with her school uniform, just in case Grandma, we can go back to school. Heartbreaking!! In the meantime we do the online schooling and if you think it is tough, I haven’t been in school for more years than you have lived, LOL! And here they study French as a second language starting in Grade 3. My granddaughter Is in grade 4 so that makes it all the harder for a 65 year old Grandma, but, you know what, some of it does come back!! I just wanted to tell you we are all in this together. The world will be a better place for all of us when a cure is found. In the meantime, hang in their sweetie! Keep on posting. You are doing just great!! 💕💕

Oh my goodness the emotional rollercoaster is so crazy. Also the frustration of not getting time away as well. And turns out one my fav hobbies is also touching my face. 😖Luckily for me I haven’t been out at all. I have a 4 month old. My poor husband has to go to work still 3 days a week. The only frustrating thing is having to clean everything he touches when he comes home. And I miss eating out. I’m so sick of cooking. Its so hard with my kids need to be held lately. Luckily my children are not in school yet. But I feel so bad for kids who are missing those graduations. Hang in there!

Oh wow, so sorry to hear he still has to go out to work. I am sure that is stressful for you! And yes, I miss eating out sooo much! But I just try to focus on the positives and get through each week at a time! Hang in there too!
