Happy November! I hope you had a great Halloween. Ours was nice and boys thoroughly enjoyed the entire event. For the past three years we have done family costumes and this year we did a Ghostbusters theme. I must admit that the heat made it hard for me to get in the Halloween spirit but cooler temps are on the way again so onward to Thanksgiving we go!
Yesterday I shared a recap of the day I spent in Birmingham last week with Southern Living. Today I am back with pictures of the rest of the house and bedrooms as well as some behind the scene pictures from the Southern Living Headquarters.
First, let’s wrap up the tour of the Southern Living Idea House. (check out Part 1 here)
Let’s start with the dining room.
Of course I love the tortoise silverware.
Moving on to the master bedroom. This was the only bedroom on the main floor.
Love how they mounted these turtle shells. I picked up a shell at Scott’s last month and need to keep my eyes open for another one so I can do this.
I loved all of the art in the house. I had to take a pic with these since we coordinated.
OK, let’s head upstairs.
Bedroom #1. Loved these monogram pillows.
Another bedroom. They called this the “Pajama Lounge”. Not sure how practical that is, but this would make a darling office!
Another bedroom.
This was the loft area at the top of the stairs.
Another bedroom. Here I am taking a picture of the Delta Social Media Rep taking a picture of another blogger on the trip.
Of course I took so many more pictures but I think you have probably seen enough! Let’s move on to the Southern Living Headquarters and Test Kitchen. They recently redid the space and I was literally blown away.
When you walk in, there is a large gathering/demonstration space.
Then on either side of that large area there are bays and bays of test areas just like this. Everyone was busy working, whipping up recipes.
Anyone need a cookbook? Look at all of these!
There were also about 8-10 bays for photo shoots. Many of them were in use for upcoming magazine spreads. It was very cool to see the team in action!
When I worked full time, I spent many afternoons on the sets of photo shoots so it was very cool to see that they did everything in house. It genuinely felt like everyone was enjoying their jobs. But I mean, come on- it would be hard not to!
Moving on we got to explore the prop “closet”. Now, they call it a closet, but it was more like a warehouse. This is where the stylist store everything for the magazine shoots.
Here is a snapshot of the blue china. They had a shelf of every color!
I hope you enjoyed the behind the scenes look at Southern Living Headquarters. I could have spent all day in that prop “closet”.
xoxo-
Heather
The test kitchen is amazing!
Heather, you look so perfect in the photos above. I think you’ve found your calling, and I love to read what you are up too with your blog!!
