Hi friends and happy 2019! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season. We managed to stay busy here in Atlanta for a Christmas Staycation and enjoyed hosting lots of family and friends. The boys are back to school today and as much as we liked sleeping in and eating Lucky Charms, we are all ready to get back into the routine of our normal daily life.
I am excited to start 2019 with a fresh slate and a positive mindset! Last year, our January and February were gobbled up with the flu, snow days and family health challenges that resulted in me crawling into somewhat of a black hole! I joked that 2018 started March 1st last year, and sadly there was way too much truth to it. Since we didn’t travel over the break, I have been able to keep up with things and am excited to hit the ground running this year.
Before we get going on 2019, I wanted to take a quick minute to reflect on the best things that happened in 2018 around here. As always, I am so thankful for this little corner of the world wide web and appreciate all of your support. I love staying home with my kids and having a side “job” that helps me stay sane and connect with each of you.
While it feels like there is always lots to do around here, it is always fun to reflect on the progress over a year. So let’s take at my favorite blogging moments of 2018.
—- MY FAVORITE Room Makeovers of 2018 —-
We kicked the year off with giving the guest bathroom an update. My goal was to brighten up the space and make it as spa like as possible for our guests. In just four short weeks, it was a race to the finish line to complete it, but I have truly enjoyed this bathroom so much this past year! I was on the fence for weeks on whether I should join the One Room Challenge last April, but at the end of the day, I went for it and I am so glad I did! The dining room was a labor of love, but it definitely has some fun and colorful personality now. It was fun to have this room complete this holiday season and I really enjoyed setting the table for various meals. To read all about it, click here ====> Dining Room Reveal
Whoa. This project was probably my biggest one of the year. My MASTER CLOSET! In case you missed it, I literally took EVERY SINGLE THING out of my master closet and started from scratch. And then I gave it a fun makeover only bringing in clothes that I loved. And I only spent $100! Out of everything I did last year, this project by far brings me the greatest joy because I use it every day. And the best part is that I have been able to keep up with the organization I implemented so that is a win-win! To see all of the gory details- click here=========> MASTER CLOSET REVEAL
— My Favorite Projects of 2018 —-
One of my favorite projects I completed this year were the DIY Antelope Chargers. They just gave my dishes new life for the holidays, and who doesn’t love a good Dollar Tree project?
Maybe it’s because I am already craving spring, but another simple favorite was this citrus hydrangea flower arrangement. I love when something so simple can make me smile!
—– My Favorite Blog Travel of 2018—-
This was my third year to trek up to New York City for the Better Homes and Garden Stylemaker Event. But I think this was my favorite yet! It was fun to share a room with some of my fave bloggers, and our picture even made it in the January 2019 magazine. How fun is that?
This past December, I was so honored to be invited to visit the HGTV Dream Home in Whitefish, Montana. It was very fun to check out a new town, and I absolutely adored the dream home. I will be sharing my trip recap and images from my visit to the Dream Home very soon!
—- My Favorite Style of 2018 —-
I treated myself to this camo bag this fall and never turned back! This was my travel sidekick on many trips and didn’t disappoint. And apparently you all liked it too as it was one of the most purchased items this fall!
Faux Leather Leggings | Camo Day Tripper Bag | Ivory Tunic Blouse |
Mink Gray Sweater (similar) | Booties
Another favorite was this casual look this fall. I guess we are all suckers for camo!
Navy Puffer Vest | Camo Sweater | Jeans | Button Down Shirt | Cut Out Booties | Tortoise Bracelets
And you couldn’t get enough of this skirt this past holiday! While mine was vintage and not readily available for purchase, I did find a great alternative and was thrilled that so many of you found inspiration with this picture and bought yourself a similar one!
Red Plaid Maxi Skirt (similar linked, mine is vintage) | Black Sweater | Chambray Button Down |
Buffalo Check Mat | Leopard Spotted Door Mat
And with that, let’s get the New Year started!
xoxo-
Heather
