I know we are still weeks away from a glorious spring arrival, but I am already getting the itch to start spring cleaning and decorating. So I was thrilled when my friend Krista invited me to join a Spring DIY group today sharing lots of fun spring ideas. It was just what I needed to get the spring wheels turning around here and kick these winter blues to the curb. Today I am sharing a fun way to add a pop of color to your space this spring. This Paint Dipped Colorblock Vase is an easy DIY and a modern take on a simple classic vase. I know we all have a cabinet full of clear vases and this is a really really simple way to make them feel fun and fresh. And the best part is I made it for under $10. Read on to see how you can too!
I absolutely love how the paint hides the bottom of the stems and has a very clean look. And can we just talk about that fun pop of french blue? Swooning.
Y’all. Here is the best part. Serena and Lily has a similar vase right now and is selling theirs for about $100. I also found this one over at Etu Home for $120.

Glass Vase – Found at Goodwill – $2.50
Blue Spray Paint- French Blue Rustoleum $3.99
Flowers– Magnolia Clipping FREE
All in? $7.50
I just cannot wait for summer and to pop my blue hydrangeas in here when they start to bloom. I think it will be the most PERFECT blue hydrangea vase I ever could imagine! But honestly, I kind of love the free magnolia clippings in here too.
Of course, I couldn’t leave well enough alone and had to try this look on a few white versions as well. I just love them all! I also think the white will be really pretty with summer hydrangea clippings. The thing I love about this shape of glass vases is that they have a more narrow opening on top which makes arranging flowers easy!
As I mentioned above, this is a very easy DIY and one that even a non-DIY busy mama can try. To make them, you just need a few supplies:
- glass vase
- spray paint
- painters tape
- a grocery bag or newspaper
To make them, just add a line of painters tape starting where you want to have your paint start. Use painters tape to add a grocery bag or newspaper on the part that you want to keep clear.
I hope you are inspired to grab an old clear vase out of your cabinet and give it a new modern look for spring. Speaking of inspiration- be sure to check out all of the great ideas below. If you don’t already have spring fever- I’m sure you will after seeing all of the pretty projects below.
