Lego Building Nook || The Final Reveal

in HOME on 09/30/20

I have definitely been geeking out over LEGO the past month and I am so excited to share the final LEGO Building Nook with you today. If you are just tuning in- I joined a $100 Room Challenge which means over the past four weeks I have pulled together this room for under $100. Admittedly I think I have enjoyed creating this LEGO Building Nook for the boys just as much as they enjoy building with their LEGO! It’s a win-win… and the best part is that we are gaining a completely new functional space in our home for around a hundred bucks.

So let’s take a look at the LEGO Building Nook:

This little nook used to have a couch and I figured it would be where we read every night before bed. However, the boys had other plans. The couch was usually so full of toys and nonsense that we rarely even utilized this space! So when we gave Sweet P’s bedroom a makeover this summer and now that Sweet B was old enough to play –  it was time to pull all of the LEGO out and give them a space of their own.

I’m sure someday they won’t be into LEGO anymore, but I do believe this space can grow with them. Which is why I am so happy we didn’t spend much converting this to work as a LEGO room. I do think the key pieces could easily transition to a homework station someday if needed too!

But for now, it is perfect as a LEGO Building Nook, so let’s take a look at all of the final details.

LEGO BUILDING NOOK || LEGO WORKSHOP DESK

The main feature of this LEGO Building Nook is the LEGO Workshop Desk. It was lovingly made by my Dad and fits perfectly in this space. The top was made using some scrap wood and we found this great pair of vintage file cabinets as the base.

The drawers have great additional storage and the surface is the perfect size for building LEGO creations. The chairs were leftovers from the dining room – those hand painted seats are holding on strong after a few years! I am so glad they found a new home.

The desk on the side was a side of the road find and is another great surface for housing the LEGO stadium. Thank you random neighbor. 🙂

LEGO BUILDING NOOK || LEGO ORGANIZATION

We repurposed this Ikea shelf that was in the playroom for all things LEGO! It houses lots of loose LEGO pieces, finished builds, instructions and all kinds of LEGO odds and ends. It’s so nice to have everything all in one place now!

I intentionally left some empty spaces for the boys to grow into this shelf as their collection grows.

We also utilized these DIY LEGO Storage Heads to hold different sorted LEGO pieces such as tires, tracks and all of the Ghostbuster characters.

LEGO BUILDING NOOK || LEGO ART

I found these great LEGO patent prints from Google Patents and used some frames I had tucked away to hang above the shelves. Yay for free art!

I just love how these cute LEGO Storage heads turned out! And I love that they were FREE even more! It’s always fun to repurpose things and this was no exception. I even got the boys involved in picking out which faces to make and they helped with the pirate’s beard. I might just have to make a few more of these before it’s all said and done!

LEGO BUILDING NOOK || LEGO MINIFIGURE DISPLAY

This fun LEGO Minifigure Display is another one of my favorite features in the room! I really enjoyed coming up with this display and I love the addition to this LEGO desk.

This is AMAZING! I love the minifigures wall and those adorable buckets. I am totally pinning some of these ideas to save for our boys…and my husband LOL! By the way, my son is obsessed with ghostbusters right now. I have heard the theme song waaaay too many times. 😂

I just love the lego storage heads! I think you did an amazing job of storage in this space. The fact that there is empty space is crucial too! Definitely room to grow. Great job!

I love this Lego space- fun for the boys, but I might want to hang out and build in it too! All of your small projects added up to so much Lego style for the kids, but don’t look childish. Fantastic job
