Good morning! Happy Thanksgiving week! Can you believe it’s here? Are you hosting, cooking, traveling, or just laying low? I am hosting but all I am tasked with is setting the table since everyone else is bringing food. I can definitely handle that!

Today I am back with another “30 Days in a Holiday State of Mind” post! By now you know I am a sucker for recipes with 5 ingredients or less. I am also a sucker for a themed get-together. Last week I hosted a playdate for the neighborhood. Admittedly, I *may* have gone a bit over the top!

But come on!
Mickey Mouse?!?!!?!
OREO Cookies?!?!?!

Is it REALLY possible to go over the top when it comes to either of those? 🙂

I knew I wanted to make some Mickey and Minnie Mouse OREO Cookie Balls for the party, so I just ran with the whole Disney theme. Because any party with a theme is just more fun. #truth

Oreo Cookie Ball
I made OREO Cookie Balls- three ingredients and NO BAKE!
My kind of cookie, ya’ll.
To make the Mickey Mouse OREO Cookie Ball, I used the simple recipe (shown below) and then adorned them with mini OREOS, red candy melts, and white chocolate chips.
Here is the Mickey Mouse OREO Cookie Ball up close:
Mickey Mouse Oreo Cookie Ball
Of course, if you make Mickey, you can’t forget Minnie! To differentiate, I used the white chocolate chips for polka dots and the mini Winter OREOS for her ears. They come in red – how perfect is that?
A Mickey Mouse party wouldn’t be complete without Donald Duck, so I used Golden OREOS for him. Let’s just say if loving Golden OREOS is wrong, I don’t want to be right!

I found everything I needed at Wal-Mart. These little mini OREOS are adorable, and since they are so small, the calories don’t count! (or at least that is what I tell myself)

Of course, I brought the sidekick shopping!

Here is the selection of OREO cookies I got from Wal-mart that I used for my Mickey Mouse OREO Ball Cookie creations.  I am LOVING those red winter limited edition ones!
Is it me, or were OREO cookies pretty much made to be turned into Mickey Mouse ears?
Running with the Mickey theme was easier than I thought it would be.

Really anything black, red or yellow goes. Oh, and polka dots help. My DIY Three Tiered Tray came in handy for loading up the OREO cookies.
These easy to make Mickey Mouse candy canes made cute decor and were the perfect party favor.
I also made some Santa Mickey headbands. The little man loved wearing these!
For a quick and easy activity for the kiddos I grabbed a Christmas Mickey coloring book and scattered stickers and crayons on the table to keep the kids busy for a few minutes.
Hey, the moms needed some time to eat the OREO Cookie Balls too! 🙂
This party was the perfect excuse to pull out the Mickey Mouse cookie cutter. Melon shaped Mickey Mouse? Yes, please!

The OREO Cookie Balls were really easy to make! I did make them a little more complex with the whole Mickey and Minnie get-up, but I think they turned out adorable and definitely worth the extra steps. If you want an easy cookie, you could of course just make regular OREO Cookie Balls recipe below.

OFFICIAL OREO COOKIE BALL RECIPE
  • Ingredients:
    • 1 pkg (8 oz.) brick cream cheese, softened
    • 36 OREO Cookies, finely crushed (about 3 cups)
    • 4 pkg. (4 oz. each) semi-sweet baking chocolate, melted
  • Make it!
    • MIX cream cheese and cookie crumbs until blended.
    • SHAPE into 48 (1-inch) balls. Freeze 10 min. Dip balls in melted chocolate; place in single layer in shallow waxed paper-lined pan.
    • CUSTOMIZE it with your own ingredient additions or decorative skills.
    • REFRIGERATE 1 hour or until firm.
  • Share and enjoy!
To make my OREO Cookie Balls “Mickey-ized” I used red candy melts and white chocolate chips. These are optional ingredients for the OREO Cookie Balls. Really you just need the 3 ingredients to make this delicious treat!

The play date was fun and the kids (and moms!) loved the OREO treats. I love that I am home with the boys now and can enjoy fun neighborhood get togethers.

Heather..what a creative way to use Oreo cookies. I love that you incorporated a kids play date using mini and regular size Oreo's! And those golden Oreo's…wow are they delicious! Including the Mom's with cheese and crackers was a good idea! I'll bet they can't wait to be invited to another play date at your house!

Well I wish I'd be invited to your play dates!!! They look so fun!!! Question is, who had more fun? You, while you being so creative and coming up with all of these great ideas, or your friends who I'm sure had a blast? Great job, Ms. Creative!!

Loved seeing all the creative touches you added to this party to make it so special. Thanks for sharing and inspiring. I like in Orlando – – so how can I NOT put these fab ideas to use? Also, the golden Oreos are new to me – – will have to look out for those at the store next time!
