Hi friends! Hope you had a great weekend. I am so glad that Hurricane Matthew didn’t do the damage that it could have, but I know that doesn’t mean many were still impacted by it’s path. That was just such an intense couple of days, and I wasn’t even anywhere near the path! If you had to evacuate, I hope you are back home and settled again.
Today I am sharing a quick update on my “Madmen Meets the South” Living Room makeover. Thanks to Linda from Calling it Home and the One Room Challenge to keep me motivated to keep plugging along on this room. Honestly, if I wasn’t doing this challenge, I would have thrown in the towel at this point because I am stumped on a rug for the space. Here’s hoping inspiration strikes.
With our last minute house guests over the weekend due to the storm, we were busy hanging out instead of tackling many projects. But, I can’t blame them for my lack of progress. I hit a creative wall last week and some family time (and a trip to At Home) was exactly what I needed to recharge the creative juices.
It definitely concerns me that I am already scratching my head on what to do with this room, but I did have a little burst of inspiration thanks to a recent trip to my local At Home store. Since I did my porch makeover in the spring with At Home, I knew they had great options for any space. A trip through the store had me grabbing end tables, chairs, art, mirrors, trays and accessories.
My cart runneth over.
Because it is still early in the 6 week challenge, I had to reel it in because I have miles to go before I really finalize the room. But I couldn’t help but pick up some great items I found.
I knew I wanted some fun new lamps and walked up and down the lamp and lampshade aisles at least 3 times. Of course, when I saw these navy and gold ones, I snatched them up. Then I selected some fun acrylic finials as the finishing touch.
Next in the cart were two trays.
Yes. Two.
I knew I wanted a new tray for the coffee table. Again, they had an entire aisle filled with trays. I couldn’t decide between the orange and the gray so I didn’t choose and got them both.
I kind of love them.
Moving along to the chairs. When I saw these chairs, they just felt right. Just enough “Mad Men”, and I like the petite size. I think they will be great chairs to have in the living room, and I can also borrow them for our dining room table if we need to seat 8.
One of my biggest challenges in finishing a room is accessorizing. I struggle with that finishing touch, so I wandered the countless aisles of accessories to see what kind of goodies I could find. Yay for this fun faux tusk and funky star, I know I will find a good spot for them!
Here is a sneak peak at project that is in the works. I am hoping to finish and share this large DIY art tutorial next week. (EEK NEXT WEEK IS ALREADY WEEK 3!!!!)
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of At Home. The opinions and text are all mine.
