{Peach Valley Christmas} Christmas In Our Kitchen

in Christmas, holidays, HOME, Seasonal Home Tours on 11/26/18

Hello friends! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.  We arrived home from our week at the beach, dropped our bags, and went straight to get our Christmas tree on Sunday. So, I have been busy ever since trimming and decorating. Falalalala! But with both kids down with ear infections this week,  I am happy that I had some time before we left to get the decorating started.  To kick the holiday season off, I am sharing our kitchen today.  I am joining a large group of bloggers that are also sharing their kitchen so there should be tons of inspiration for you as you get started.  If you are coming over from Rhoda’s blog- welcome to our Christmas kitchen here at Peach Valley.

This is our second Christmas in the new house, and if you are new around here, we have lovingly named it Peach Valley. We’ve come a long way with making it our own over the past year and it definitely feels like home. Of course, adding Christmas magic is always the best part of the year, so let’s go ahead and take a stroll through our Christmas kitchen.

With the open floor plan, I like to keep things simple in the kitchen, especially at Christmas. I find that when it gets too cluttered I start twitching!  As I mentioned last month, our kitchen island was one of the first things I fell in love with when we walked in the new house. I love the over-sized counter and have enjoyed finding new ways to decorate it with the seasons and holidays.  This year, I used items I had on hand to create a simple and elegant centerpiece for the kitchen island and I couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out.

Lighted Garland   |   Large Lantern   |   Medium Lantern  |   Pinecones  |   Battery Pillar Candle  | Pendant Light

I really am craving simple these days and this simple lighted garland, lantern and pine cone combination is perfect. I also love using things I have on hand that can be used for multiple holidays and these lanterns have been in my stash for years. The pre-lit garland also has become a Christmas decorating staple from mantels to doorways, and now on the island. The pine cones were compliments of some Georgia pines. 🙂

It really does make a statement without feeling too cluttered. From here you can see how the island complements the sink so let’s go ahead and take a closer look.

Here I also opted to keep it fairly clean and simple. Since the kitchen opens to main living area, it needs to really just flow with everything else. I grabbed this garland from Trader Joe’s – I always pick up 3-4 when they arrive. This is the first time I have tried one over the sink and I think it looks cute! Such a big bang for under $10. I just used four 3M hooks to attach it, and it has already been holding strong for 2 weeks.

The only other thing I added was a couple simple faux boxwood topiaries from years past. These are also staples I love to keep on hand because they work for so many different holidays and seasons.

The stove just got two of my vintage ice buckets with some green trees. Again, keeping it simple and clutter free… and using things I have on hand. I guess that is my theme this year. 🙂

I did add this large silver serving tray that I snagged at the thrift store. I love how it looks behind the stove, and used 3M squares to attach it.

The last final detail is something I have been working on for the past 11 months. (I know, I am weird.)  Last year, I bought a couple Santa mugs from the Dollar Tree, and let’s just say I was HOOKED! So, this past year, every time I popped into the Goodwill, I always checked out the Christmas dishes. Sure enough, I was able to find an entire collection of Santa mugs over the year.

It’s hard to pick my favorite, but I think that Mrs. Claus one is hard to resist.

The boys are already grabbing the mugs to use on a daily basis and since they were all around a buck each, I love that I don’t mind!

I hope you enjoyed a quick stroll through our holiday kitchen. I love sharing our home with you and am always so inspired after perusing everyone’s beautiful homes. I hope you are inspired today too!
