Last spring I tackled the guest room as part of the One Room Challenge… and I am SO glad I did! There is nothing I love more than walking into our guest room because it really does feel like a boutique hotel. I also love not seeing a corner or spot that needs to be dealt with because when I shared the reveal it really was completely done. So this spring I am going to tackle our primary bedroom! It seems the only way I can stay motivated and on track to get a room “done” around here is to participate in this 8 week One Room Challenge.
This room was where the leftover furniture landed nearly 6 years ago, and it has been stagnant ever since. Why is that we always do our own rooms last? It is a large room which has always made it feel SO daunting to take on. It definitely has some great bones, and just needs someone to come along to help make it make sense. And that person is ME!
PRIMARY BEDROOM || THE BEFORE
Because I am thrilled to be joining in on the One Room Challenge this spring to give our bedroom a fun and fresh makeover. If you aren’t familiar- the One Room Challenge is where you work on a room (like a crazy person) for 8 weeks. It is very motivating to participate in the challenge because you have accountability to not only start the room…but FINISH THE ROOM! All in 8 weeks time.
It’s always stressful to give yourself a “deadline”, but any personality I can infuse into this room over the next 8 weeks will be a massive improvement. I want it to feel relaxing but also really reflect our personality as it is pretty dull as it is now. As I mentioned, the room is quite large and includes a separate sitting area.
As I mentioned, this is a hodge podge of furniture- like this random bookshelf that clearly didn’t have a home when we moved in 6 years ago and landed here.
Oh, and this random dresser and mirror were part of that furniture dump as well.
And how about this random collection of furniture in the sitting room.
Someone PLEASE make it make sense!
Wow… after looking at these pictures it really does make me wonder what has taken me so long to deal!? Be sure to check back every Thursday for the next 8 weeks as I will be sharing a weekly update here with the progress in this room. And then in May I will share the final reveal. Next week I will be sharing my vision. Here’s hoping this room makes a little more sense in 8 weeks and also brings a big smile to my face!

Good luck! At least you have a large area to work with!
