Hello hello! I hope you had a nice Memorial Day weekend. We kicked off our summer up at Lake Oconee for the weekend. While the forecast was promising rain ALL weekend, we were super lucky and had sunshine the entire time with only a light drizzle on Monday morning as we were leaving to head home. It was the perfect destination to let the boys be boys!
We rented a great villa with another family who also has two young boys. I had fun making these buckets for the group filled with water goodies.
We rented a pontoon for the weekend and the boys all loved it. Even the moms got into the water sports!
This co-captain loved the water and we continued to practice his swimming. He is really starting to get the hang of it!
The other highlight of the trip was fishing off the dock. All 4 of the boys got into it! We got some live crickets and worms and had some major success with them which completely “hooked” the boys.
We found these great training fishing poles without hooks and the littlest guys loved using them! We loved them too knowing there was no fear of getting a hook in the eye. Which would have happened at least 64 times. I was actually shocked at how long it kept the attention of the 3 year old!
Sweet P caught 15 fish. I’d say he has found his new favorite past time for the summer.
In between the pool and boat, I also managed to read a book The Orphan Train and highly recommend it. Actually, don’t start reading it unless you are able to keep your nose in it! Mom loaned it to me and I was hesitant since the title sounded…sad. I would not call it a light beach read since the topic is a bit heavy, but it is definitely an easy and fast read and I had no idea this piece of US history even existed.
Overall, it was a great weekend and such a perfect way to kick off the summer!

Oh it looks like fun was had by all! I’m so happy the boys picked up fishing and loved it. Their Great Grandpa
would be so proud! The smiles on all the faces are priceless!

It look like you and your family had a great time on the lake. I know the weather was nice and very HOT! Nothing like sealing a few days to let your hair down, wash everything away, and just have fun relaxing with some of tge most important people in your life, your family.
