DIY Moss Wreath Tutorial

in Easy DIY, Porch Life, Spring on 05/23/18

Hello hello friends and happy Wednesday! Is it really almost June? I feel like I just gave the porch a spring makeover and that was already back in March. I have been meaning to share this easy DIY Moss Spring Wreath for Door tutorial with you and today is the perfect excuse because there are 20 bloggers sharing their DIY summer wreaths down below.

I couldn’t believe it myself but when I set out to spruce up the front porch after the drab of winter, I didn’t have a wreath that worked. Apparently I have a plethora of holiday wreaths, but nothing that is a year long staple. Well, let’s just see if we can remedy that today.

Ah, yes. Looks like we can!

DIY Moss Spring Wreath for Door

I had my eye on a simple moss wreath and figured a quick DIY was in store. This DIY Moss Wreath was easy peasy so I will share my tutorial below. I love how this moss wreath can be used all year and easily updated with different ribbons for the season.

DIY Moss Spring Wreath for Door – SUPPLIES NEEDED:

18 INCH STRAW WREATH
I found mine at Hobby Lobby but looks like Amazon has a similar option

MOSS MAT
Make sure you grab the right kind- it must have an adhesive back ground
Depending on the size of your wreath and that mat, you might need two packages
I found mine at Hobby Lobby but again, it looks like Amazon has a similar option

DECORATIVE RIBBON
I can’t find the blue gingham ribbon I used at Hobby Lobby anymore, but here is a black and white option

DIY Moss Wreath

To make the DIY Moss Wreath, just cut the adhesive moss mat into 2 inch strips and peel off the back one piece at a time. Then just start adding each strip of moss to the entire body of the straw wreath until the straw is completely covered. It doesn’t matter which direction you go, just as long as the straw is covered.

TIP: The straw wreath has a plastic bag covering so once the
mat sticks on, it is pretty hard to rearrange.

Seriously, that is it! And there is something super soothing about this Moss Wreath Tutorial.  Gotta love an easy craft that greets you every time you come through the front door.

Of course, I think the DIY Moss Wreath Tutorial pairs well with my DIY Layered Mat that I shared last week. 🙂

Love the simplicity, it’s so refreshing to be able to get a project done and have it look so beautiful, I especially like the gingham ribbon and how it ties to your welcome mat.

It is so soothing and pretty! Moss reminds me of cool, shady spots during hot summer days. Now I want to make one! Thanks for joining in on this hop, Heather!
