As I was putting away all of our Christmas decor, my frustration with our house was growing with every door and cabinet I opened. Clutter was everywhere and it was time to deal! New year, new me- right? So I set a challenge for myself to tackle 10 problem areas with “TYPE A” focus to get more organized, intentional and planned. I am halfway through the self-imposed challenge and I have been sharing my progress along the way over on Instagram. So I figured I would share the first 5 projects here as well! It’s been truly amazing to purge and set myself up with some systems that were lacking. And it’s always helpful to document to keep myself accountable.
BATHROOM
First up was a major bathroom reset!
✔️ Purged all the shelves and cabinets
✔️ replaced burned lightbulbs
✔️ and did a deep cleaning

2. FRIDGE
For part 2, I tackled our fridge. This was a MUCH bigger job than I expected and I did it in lots of small increments throughout the week…. One shelf at a time!
Ahhhh- so much better now.

3. ELECTRONICS DRAWER
Somehow over time this drawer became a graveyard where all chargers and electronics went to die.
So. Much. Better!

4. PANTRY
Next up- the pantry! Took every single thing out, wiped down the shelves, two trash bags later and let’s not talk about the item I found that expired in 2019…
I think I’m most excited about the hand written family recipe I framed and hung… or maybe the “found” space on the top shelve for small vases- why didn’t I think of this before?

5. LUGGAGE
Time to go Type A on our luggage situation!
✈️ 🧳
When we traveled for MLK, I realized that our luggage was a hot mess. My carry on handle was broken and somehow we didn’t even have enough suitable carry ons for everyone.
So it was time to channel that inner TYPE A self and deal with it.
✈️ Purged the old.
✈️ Did a ton of research and ultimately decided to go with new Quince carry-ons. They have great reviews, loved the green and navy options and nearly half the price as the AWAY luggage.
✈️ I also ordered the Calpak carry on bag for myself.
✈️ Also created a drawer in my locker dedicated to travel chargers, converters, passports, my Kindle- and anything else that is for travel!
✈️ Last but not least- I created a space in all of our closets for everyone to store their own carry on luggage!
Seriously why didn’t I do this years ago? Let’s gooooooo ✈️

Alright, 5 projects down… 5 to go!
XO-
Heather

Heather, so glad that you posted on a site other than Instagram (don’t have it, don’t want it) to see what you have been up to! Purging is the best feeling isn’t it? The electronics get to be a hot mess so quick and why do we put something back in the drawer when it DOESN’T WORK??
Love and hugs
I agree. I have purged clothes, craft supplies, old beat up decor, kids toys they’ve outgrown, old bedding. My goal for this house is at least 1 bag a week. Then comes the reorganization.
And redecorating. Whee!
