{Kate Spade Style Soiree} How to Make Knock-Off Kate Spade Shoes

in Lifestyle on 05/14/13

I hope you are excited to see
polka dots, colors, and whimsy,
because today is the Kate Spade Style Soiree!

Today is the first Style Soiree Summer link party and we are featuring all things Kate Spade. That’s right, if you are a Kate-Spade-Luvah, fasten your patent leather seat belt because this is going to be more fun than eating cake for breakfast.

When the idea for the Style Soiree Summer link party series first came to mind, I had no clue what projects I would create. I just thought it would be a fun concept to tackle with all of you amazing bloggers.

Then the idea struck me while I was cleaning out my closet a few weeks back. As I threw an old pair of ballet flats that had seen better days in the donation pile, I wondered if I could perform a little CPR (Cute PairofShoes Remake).

I know I have a reputation for painting just about anything,
but I must admit that I have never painted shoes…
until now!
Yep- I painted shoes to create a Kate Spade Tipsy Ballet Flat Knock-off. Here I will show you how to make knock-off Kate Spade shoes.

The inspiration came from these Kate Spade Tipsy Flats-
(which retailed for $198 when they came out- and are no longer available)

This was quick, cheap and easy!
Just a few simple steps:

1. Find a pair of old ballet flats from the depths of your closet.

2. Place a strip of painters tape at the toe squaring off the area you want to paint.
Be sure to tape off the soles as well.

3. Mix some fabric paint with acrylic paint. I chose a bright coral orange FolkArt color from Hobby Lobby.

4. Paint the toe- I used 3 coats to ensure a saturated color.

5. Since the insoles to these shoes had seen better days, I pulled them out to give them a couple coats in the same color.

(and yes, I do crafts on my kitchen counter)

6. Let them dry and use Shoe Goo to glue the soles back in.

And there you have it!
Knock-Off Kate Spade Tipsy Flats for a couple bucks!
I must say, I feel particularly darling in these and wore them all weekend!
