Ten years ago tomorrow I was a bride.
Yep. Exactly one week before Christmas 10 years ago we walked down the aisle and became husband and wife.
How has it been ten years? I mean, I was literally still a teenager when I met this man! The one I first casually referred to as “Georgia Tech”, then “boyfriend”, fiance…became “husband”, and now “daddy”.
I am so thankful for our forever.
For the family we’ve built.
And that he plays along with whatever I dream up.
For example…this pose. 🙂
Brian and I met when I was University of Georgia and he was at Georgia Tech- about an hour away from each other. We had fun getting to know each other throughout college. We continued dating when we both graduated and got jobs back in Atlanta.
A couple years later we were at a cross-road. The fate of our future was being forced. You see, Brian was going to get his Masters, somewhere NOT in Atlanta. After a long hard search, he landed on a school five hours away. Although we had been dating about 5 years, we were young and not quite sure what our next move should be.
So we broke up. We were both heartbroken but it felt like the right thing to do.
He needed to go do his thing.
And I needed to do mine.
If it was meant to be, it would be.
The break up lasted for about 5 months. Then 2 months before he was set to move, things changed.
We met up. We laughed. I cried.
And a few weeks later, he proposed.
It was a whirlwind engagement and 6 months later we were walking down the aisle. When I look back…it was a bit crazy! But we were just so excited to finally make the decision to be together forever!
Our ten years have been wonderful, not-so-perfect, but wonderful years.
We fight. But more importantly we have learned how to fight fair.
We have also learned how to make up. To forgive.
We make each other laugh.
We are navigating this whole parenting thing. Together.
I am so thankful for this amazing man. My partner in crime. Who works hard to provide for our family. Who is 100% supportive in our decision for me to stay home with our boys. Who is a great Dad and husband!
Honestly, each year just gets better and better. I can’t wait to see where our future takes us! Happy Anniversary honey!
