Southern State of Mind Blog by Heather

Making Spirits Bright || Our Christmas Dining Room

in Christmas on 11/28/22

Hello hello! It is officially Christmas and I have been a busy girl decking the halls around here. Even with an early decorating start before Thanksgiving, I feel like I haven’t even made a dent, but at least the dining room is ready to go.  Today I am joining a great group of bloggers sharing our Christmas Dining Rooms. It feels SO great to have a room completely ready to go for Christmas! If you are coming over from County Road 407 – welcome!

If you are new here, I’m Heather, the zhushing-crafting-iced-coffee-drinking-mom behind the blog. My husband and I live in Atlanta with our two boys – ages 8 and 11. This is our sixth Christmas in this home, which is hard to believe, and while at this point I like to do some of the same tried and true decorations for Christmas, I still enjoy some tweaking here and there.

This blog brings me so much joy and I am so glad you are joining me today to have a look around! One way to get caught up with me lately is to read my Front Porch Coffee Talks where I share what’s on my mind like old friends chatting over coffee.

Alright! Well with no further ado- let’s make some spirits bright!

If you’ve been around here for awhile, you might recognize my dining room. It got a post-quarantine (AKA removing of the home school headquarters) glow up and I have LOVED using metallics in here the past few holiday seasons. You can read all about that update HERE> A POST QUARANTINE DINING ROOM GLOW UP

MAKING SPIRITS BRIGHT  || SETTING THE TABLE

I love our round dining table, but honestly I have struggled with what to use as the centerpiece. Last year I “accidently” created this ornament bowl and it is just the perfect thing for a festive centerpiece. To make this I just stuffed it with paper towels and then piled the ornaments. Yay for buying those after Christmas sale ornaments a few years ago. 🙂

I couldn’t resist a pop of red among all of the metallic and grabbed some red napkins. Can you tell I folded them like Christmas trees?

MAKING SPIRITS BRIGHT || GLOWING VIGNETTE

The faux garland got a dose of metallic with some pretty gold and silver ornaments.  Realizing I still had bunches of metallic ornaments, I decided to GO FOR IT and bauble it up!

Lastly, the flocked tree with metallic ornaments is the perfect complement to the wallpaper ceiling and my DIY art. I love the pretty white tree with the shiny ornaments and neutral ribbons.

Thank you for popping in to our dining room today. I can’t wait to have some Christmas music playing, some yummy food dished up and enjoy this space with friends and family this holiday season! I hope you found a nugget or two of inspiration for you own home!

Next up on the tour is Classic Casual Home– I can’t wait to see her space! And be sure to check out everyone below sharing their beautiful Christmas homes!

I love your dining room and that huge round table that seats 8 is my favorite. Using tons of shiny ornaments on your garland is so pretty and something I will steal to use in my own home next year. Such a fabulous statement. Such a pretty room and that wallpapered ceiling always catches my eye.

Hi Heather. Love your decor. Do you have source for your dining room table? I am on the hunt for one this size. Thanks.

So many cute ideas for Christmas decorating! Love the garland on the mirror and around the bases of your lamps. Plus the bowl of beautiful ornaments as a centerpiece is gorgeous as well. Your colors are so elegant and soft. And I totally need to fold my napkins like yours! So fun! Merry Christmas

Heather this is so so pretty!! I love all your white and neutral decor for this room – the collection of trees on your sideboard, tree and ornaments on the table with the evergreens look beautiful. Your ceiling is amazing by the way!!! And also love the antelope chargers, I saw your reel on IG on how you made them and that is such a cute idea! Hope you have a wonderful Christmas season!
