Everyday Style Inspiration (Vol 3) My Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Top Picks

in style on 07/13/17

Happy Christmas in July! A.K.A- the kick off to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!

I know we all still have white jeans and scallop shorts on our minds but today we are switching gears to talk fall fashion with the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I knew I wanted to get on top of the sale this year because there were so many gems last year that sold out before I had a chance to order them. When the sale catalog arrived I settled into bed to take a peek. The “peek” turned into me perusing every last page of the sale catalog making notes of the items that seemed interesting.   Honestly some of the clothes felt like something I would have worn back in high school which made me extremely happy! Between the wide leg pants, slip dresses, velvet, Vans and floral prints it felt like a new episode of 9021o was about to come on. I can’t believe I am old enough to officially see trends repeat themselves!

I feel cool again. And also really old. 🙂

If you aren’t familiar with the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale let me fill you in. Basically Nordstrom takes some of their best upcoming fall items and marks them down in July. It’s like Christmas in July for grown ups. While I am not one to run out every season and buy all of the new trends, I enjoy looking at what will be “hot” for the upcoming fall season and grabbing a few trendy pieces and maybe even a staple to add to my wardrobe. Fall is probably my favorite season to dress for because #layers and they showed some fun new ways to layer in the catalog as well.

So I figured since I had done all of the work on picking out my faves, I would share them with you today too.  Also the best part about Nordstrom is FREE SHIPPING AND RETURNS. YES!!!!!

*** Early access to the sale starts today for those with Nordstrom cards. If you don’t have a card you still have time to get one AND you will get a $20 Nordstrom note when you spend $100. If you wait, the sale will open to the public July 21- August 6th.

TOPS:

First I am going to start with some tops that I earmarked. While I don’t get dressed up every day for my carpool “momiform” I do love having a couple go-to tops that I know will just “work”. These look like good contenders.

Um hello cold shoulders in a SWEATSHIRT. This one is so perfect for someone on the go that still wants to look put together.

I like big bows and I cannot lie! This one is too cute and $40!!

They showed this cute sleeveless sweater over a gingham button down. Since I basically wear a gingham button down and vest every. single. day. in the fall, I love this variation with the sweater and it kicks it up a notch! I also think it would be cute with a long sleeve white shirt under it.

I bought a very similar houndstooth blazer from J Crew last year as a staple to the wardrobe.  Honestly I was on the fence about the houndstooth because I wasn’t sure it was neutral enough but once I committed I ended up wearing it all of the time!

I love the way they are showing it with this fun graphic tee and skinny jeans.

PANTS:

OK, now on to jeans. Although it will be hard to put my summer staple of white jeans away, by October they tend to go to the back of my closet. It has been quite some time since I invested in a good pair of jeans and love these and these. Jeans are definitely something I think it is worth investing in! But THESE for under $40 are definitely going in my cart too!

SHOES & ACCESSORIES:

I have this same Madewell bag in solid camel. I have worn it every day for about 2.5 years and it is one of my most favorite things I own. I love this new variation with the gray color and black stripe!

I already have a pair of navy Hunter wellies so I am not sure I can justify these duck boots. But aren’t they adorable? That burgundy lacing gives me all of the heart eyes. These booties look really cute too and I love the color- and under $60!

VANS! I had a pair back in high school and just love this muted tweed color combo.

Time to check some ladies off your Christmas list! These Kendra Scott earrings are classic and under $40!

I am so bad at remembering lip gloss so maybe with this little pack of all different colors it will be easy to grab one! I’m exited to try out these colors.

DRESS:

We have a wedding in October and shift dresses are my jam. So is navy blue. #navyismylovelanguage I will definitely be giving this sweet little dress a twirl! It is under $100!

I ordered this dress and really hope it works! I think it is the perfect go-to from summer through fall. I can see booties or over the knee boots with a jacket being super cute with it!

LOUNGEWEAR & ACTIVEWEAR:

When it comes to loungewear, I think the whole effortless look can actually take alot of effort. Do you agree? And I really don’t like spending money to just lounge. But since I basically lived in J Crew PJ pants and a black cardigan last January (ok, ok February too), this one is definitely coming to mama. I got this for my MIL last year  for Christmas and she went and got another one in a different color. OH and Oprah had it on her faves list! Winner Winner!

Similar to loungewear, I am very anti when it comes to spending money on active wear. But since I pretty much live in it 84.3% of my life, I have come to accept that it should be cute too. These pants have 443 reviews and are only $35.

So those are the items I will be adding to my cart. Have you taken a look at the sale? What did I miss? There are so many goodies to check out!

xoxo-

Heather
