Upcycled Toy Storage Jars

in BOY MOM, create, Easy DIY, Inspiration on 04/01/15

Happy Wednesday! We are on Day 3 of Boy-Mom Madness! I hope you are finding lots of inspiration among all of the great Boy-Moms that are participating. I know I am!

Today I am here with a quick fun and (free to me) DIY project. If today is your trash day, you may want to go ahead and run out to your recycle bin and grab any plastic containers because they are the key ingredient in today’s project.

Matchbox Car Jar

Yep. This is what I started with:

Then I just perused the play room and found a matchbox car and an over-sized army man to glue on to the lids.
To attach the chotskies to the lids, I used a little Gorilla Glue. If used correctly, this stuff dries in 5 minutes and the stuff is hard as a rock. (if not used correctly it never dries, but don’t ask me how I know, mmmkay?!?!? LOL)

To finish them off, I grabbed some leftover spray paint and gave them a coat in navy and green.
Voila! Toy Storage Jars! I think these would be super cute for a birthday gift filled with toys or even in a craft room? Maybe an empty thread spool glued on top filled with thread? Really the possibilities are endless! The one with the army man has since been filled with… yep, you guessed it, army men. 🙂

Matchbox Car Jar

It’s pretty funny how much of a kick my little guy got out of these.

Hooray for upcycling and a fun way to store the little boy toys!
