Limelight Love

in Hydrangea Care, Lifestyle on 08/14/14

Do you love hydrangeas as much as me? I am a huge sucker for blue, but lately I am obsessing over the limelight hydrangea variety. I just think the lime color of the bloom is so perfect for summer decor. There really is nothing better than being able to walk out into your yard and grab some hydrangea cuttings for a beautiful hydrangea flower arrangement.

Fortunately, I planted a limelight a few years ago and am so thrilled that our our limelight hydrangea FINALLY bloomed! Here you can not only did it bloom, but it came in with a bang!  This part of our yard gets morning shade and afternoon sun and it seems to be really happy with that!

I have planted 6 various hydrangeas since we moved in and this was the first year we had substantial blooms. I hope this means good things in the coming years for these plants. Like I mentioned, the limelight hydrangea seemed to really take off this year. I guess my patience paid off! To bring some of this beauty inside, I clipped a couple blooms and wandered the yard to find more clippings for a quick flower arrangement.

Don’t you just love the pop of green with the blue and white vases? Why do you have to end summer?!?!?

I love how each season the yard provides different colors and textures to make DIY (aka: FREE) flower arrangements!

Our limelights are huge this year, and we just planted them last spring. Our others have not bloomed much, if at all, this year due to our crazy winter!

Wow! You are lucky that they bloomed after only being planted last spring. That is a good point on the winter, maybe there is still hope for next year!

Thanks Jazmine! It helps that the lady who owned my home before me was a huge gardener! I get to reap the benefits of her hard work! 🙂

I love hydrangeas! I have a few varieties but not limelight. Three of my seven have bloomed, not sure why the others haven't. I know one is too young but the others should be. Love your arrangements!
