I have been dreaming of this day for about 18 months. The day where we are finally to a point where I can share a Lake House Tour! After putting Christmas away, I was able to snap some photos of the house before heading home over our Christmas break. Since moving in to the home back in October, it has been a labor of love getting it to this point. There is still LOTS to do and I know this space will evolve over time, but here is a glimpse into our home.
As I set out to decorate this house, I really channeled the idea of “Ralph Lauren’s Fish Camp” when it came to the look I was going for. I wanted timeless and classic look with a flair of Americana and a nod to Native American. There is a long history of Cherokee Indians in the area and the old cabin had a lot of Native American items. I want it to feel “campy” but modern. Hopefully this will come through as you see more of the home.
I’m going to link and source what I can along the way and will answer any questions as well in case you have any specific questions as it relates to the building process. Follow along as I share over the full tour over the coming weeks!
Come on in!
FRONT PORCH
Welcome to the front porch!
- One fun detail here are the gas lanterns. They really do add so much ambience to the porch and it was easy to run a gas line while we were building. I painted some old rocking chairs and a bench that we had to match the exterior paint. I can’t wait to get some planters going out here this spring with some big ferns.
- We decided to “break the mold” and do brick instead of stone. Literally, out of all of the homes our architect and builder have done on the lake, they have never built a brick home. I think it adds to the campy feel and is SO much more “us” than stone. The brick is called Old French Quarter and is made by Cherokee Brick.
- The paint color was a labor of love and I love where we landed. It is Benjamin Moore- Randolph Gray. These pictures make it look very green- it is more of a grey green in person.
FOYER
There isn’t really a formal “foyer” just a space before walking into the living room. It’s a fairly open floor plan which allows the most opportunity for views!
- I found a pair of these tables off of Facebook Marketplace and they flank the front door. Here you get a glimpse of the lounge (quite possibly my favorite nook in the house).
- I found the green metal piece at Scott Antique Market and have been collecting paddles and walking sticks for years. The “HODGES” one is extra special because that was in the cabin and is the name of who we bought the property from.
- The walls throughout the house are all Benjamin Moore White Dove.
From this direction you can see a glimpse of the living room and the other foyer table. I’ve also been collecting random vintage rugs over the last 18 months and we have been shuffling them around to see where they land.
I found the fun vintage duck decoys at Scotts and the lamps were an estate sale find!
