2016 Blue Christmas Home Tour {Part 1}

in holidays, Living & Family Room, Our Christmas Home on 11/29/16

Hi friends! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. We got back from the beach on Sunday and we have been busy finishing up the Christmas decorating around here.  I did get a head start before we left for our 30-A Thanksgiving trip and I am so glad I did!  I really hope to be fully done by December 1 so I can really just sit by the twinkle lights all month and enjoyt it. (oh and I need to start my shopping!)

Today kicks off Part 1 of the 2016 holiday home tour with the foyer. You may recall I recently painted our navy wall with a bright white. I loved that navy wall, but the white definitely brightens up the space.

I mentioned last week but in case you missed it, let me give you a quick recap on the theme this year. As I started pulling down all of my Christmas decor, I realized that I have collected quite a random collection of Christmas decor in our 12 years of marriage.

With many things given to me or purchased through the years, I was just staring at everything and starting to feel a little schitzo. Would it be a traditional look? A woodsy look? A playful, colorful look? Am I still mad for plaid? But I knew I had to decide on something so it wouldn’t look like a bad holiday sweater exploded in my house.

So, after looking through everything, I realized I should just stick to what I love…. so it’s a BLUE CHRISTMAS!

I grabbed some books from our local library and added the first two lines to the Blue Christmas song. I have definitely been singing this for the past two weeks.

For the mirror, I made a Magnolia Wreath using my tried and true tutorial and added some painted blue leaves and metallic copper and gold.

I also made a pair of wreaths for the back of the front door. I’ve always wanted to try this look.

Here is our Advent Calendar. I will add candy canes to each pocket- Sweet P is SO EXCITED.

Here is a close up of the petite tree in the hall. I carried the Indigo Blue and metallic color scheme onto this.

I wrapped up a couple of presents with my color scheme. They are actually empty. It is a good thing because the boys have been tossing them around the house.

Thanks for joining me for Part 1 of the tour. I will be back with more rooms filled with Blue Christmas decor over the next couple of weeks and some fun tutorials for Blue Christmas projects.

    I am loving the blue! I always think of blue for Christmas with the light sparkly blue. But the blues you used! Love 🙂 It totally works. And I totally understand the whole sweater explosion…that’s what I get for decorating with different themes every year 🙂

      Thanks Lisa! A Blue Christmas doesn’t have to actually be “blue” right? I am so happy to be “blue”! 🙂
