Welcome! Today is Day 3 of sharing my “Blue Christmas” holiday home and we continue to meander our way through the holiday house. I’d have a Blue Christmas without you, so thanks for stopping in! If you are joining me from the 12 Days of Holiday Homes Tour, then welcome! Today is the 6th Day of the tour, hosted by Evolution of Style and 11 Magnolia Lane! I am so thrilled to be part of this group of incredibly talented bloggers sharing their holiday homes. #theregoesmymorning
This year at Southern State of Mind we are having a Blue Christmas – which means I am just sticking with what I love and all-things-blue in order to avoid looking like a bad holiday sweater exploded in my house. #navyismylovelanguage
If you missed the previous rooms, we have already toured the foyer and the den. Today we will stroll into the dining room and tomorrow I will be sharing our last decorated space – the living room.
Similar to yesterday, the dining room is a “new” space this year to decorate. Although we have been in our house for seven years, we reworked some of the rooms last spring in the One Room Challenge to make them function better for our family. This time last year, this room was a playroom… a.k.a. a toy grenade. It was fun to have a few new-to-me spaces to zhush up this Christmas.
The moment we decided to turn this room into our dining room I knew I would be hanging wreaths in all of the windows at Christmas. I have always loved the look but never had a room it worked in.
I kind of squealed after I hung them. But then again, I am very easily amused.
Of course, I kept with the “Blue Christmas” theme for the tablesetting and used my inherited Blue Willow. This china was the Big Sweet’s Grandma’s every day dishes. I mixed it with my modern dishes for a fun mix.
I absolutely love this wreath from Lynch Creek Farm. It smells so good and has Magnolia leaves tucked in. I have even gifted one to someone as a thank you already this year- it really is the perfect thing to give someone that has everything!
I’ve had the pair of reindeers for years, but changed them from silver to navy and gold. Yay for using what I have. Nevermind that my fingers have been blue from spray paint for weeks.
Thanks so much for stopping in to see the dining room. If you want to catch up on all things “Blue Christmas” that we’ve covered here are the links:
