Hi friends! I hope you are all staying safe and sane in your corner of the world. We are kicking off week SIX of quarantine and for the first time in weeks I feel a tiny surge of creativity around here!. I even made a list of some projects I would like to tackle in the coming weeks. (Baby steps) Today I thought I would share a very simple kitchen island idea if you are looking to mix things up in your house.

You may have seen this on the Spring Home Tour post I shared last month (was that already/only a month ago?) but I thought it would be nice to share the specifics as well. If you have been around here long, you know that my kitchen island is one of my favorite places to decorate for seasons and holidays. We are coming up on our three year house anniversary which means this kitchen island has seen it’s fair share of tweaking, so I finally also created a library to showcase these ideas- and you can see them all here.

This vase with faux lemon branches is very simple but I just love how cheerful it is in the kitchen. Particularly now, when we can all use as much cheering up as possible. The blue and white Vase I had on hand from my collecting over the years. I found the lemon branches at Target and absolutely love them in here. I knew I wanted some lemons for the kitchen, so I shopped around and found these to be an affordable option. I think they look adorable! Honestly- they didn’t cost much more than a fresh bouquet of flowers and they will last forever. If you want the lemon look, but don’t have a good vase to start with- this potted version also looks like it would be a great option.
I know we are all cooped up and not able to peruse our favorite stores right now but hopefully you will feel inspired to add a little something new to your own kitchen island using something you already have. Just wondering on the camel-colored collarless blazer you got from J Crew, did you get your true size or did you size down? I would like to order one and can’t decide if I should go TTS or size down. Thanks!
I’m so glad you asked! I actually did “size down” to a small for this. I would definitely normal wear a medium at J Crew but the small was perfect for me!
