Southern State of Mind Blog by Heather

(There’s No Place Like) Home For The Holidays || Christmas Front Porch

in Christmas, Holidays and Parties, Porch Life on 11/30/20

Good morning friends and happy holiday season! We are officially kicking off the holidays today with a stop in our front porch. Thanks to 11 Magnolia Lane and Evolution of Style for hosting this week’s Holiday Home Tour with lots of holiday inspiration. If you are coming over from Heather at Setting for Four – welcome!

Our front porch has become a sidekick here on the blog with the weekly Front Porch Coffee Talk series where we virtually “catch up” over coffee on my porch. When the holiday season comes, the porch is usually the first area I want to add some cheer to and this year was no different.   I especially felt like I owed the porch some extra love because we spent many many hours sitting out here this year during quarantine. I think we can all agree that especially this year- there’s no place like home for the holidays!

Welcome to our front porch! In warmer months you will find me out here most mornings sipping on my coffee. With the cooler temperatures, I am probably not going to be drinking my coffee, but it is still fun to give it a little new life for the holidays. For the front entrance, I pulled these planters out of storage and added some topiaries that were also tucked away in storage. I hadn’t used either of these items for awhile and I love how stately it all looks next to the front door. I will still likely add my fresh Trader Joe’s garland above the door but since we were at Disney last week for Thanksgiving- I wasn’t able to grab it yet.

I love shopping the house to see what I can find with different seasons and holidays and I love that I didn’t spend any money assembling this year’s porch just by using old things in new ways!

These lanterns seem to move around every season out here and hold all kinds of different things! This year they hold birch logs and ornaments.

My mom gave me the 4 plaid pillows and I just love them so much! They are plaid on one side with snowflakes on the other which means I can use them all winter long.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a room in our home without a dash of blue and white and I just love a little dose of it mixed with the traditional red plaids.

Alright, that wraps up our stroll on the holiday front porch. I hope you are inspired to add a little festive to your own porch! Be sure to check out all of the other porches below-  Julie from Less Than Perfect Life of Bliss  is next on the hop and she always has such fun and colorful style!

Your porch is such a nice size and I love the red and blue with plaids. So pretty for Christmas. Your door topiaries are so pretty too. I could sit there all day and watch the world go by.

Thanks Heather! I have been trying to figure out a simple way to make lanterns more festive. I will be finding some ornaments to put inside! Of course they won’t be outside with our weather here in Ohio. BRRRR.
