Southern State of Mind Blog by Heather

(There’s No Place Like) Home For The Holidays || Christmas Home Tour

in Christmas, Holidays and Parties, Home Tour, Seasonal Home Tours on 12/09/20

Hi friends! Thanks for stopping by for today’s Christmas Home Tour. While this year just doesn’t feel the same, it made getting the house ready for Christmas that much more special and important this year.  There truly is no place like home for the holidays! I’m thrilled to have teamed up with Marty from A Stroll Thru Life  along with 29 other talented bloggers to share our Christmas homes with you this week. If you are coming from Christy at Our Southern Home– so glad you are here. I hope you find lots of inspiration below and among all of the homes this weeks on the tour.

Oh, there’s no place like home for the holidays
For no matter how far away you roam
When you long for the sunshine of a friendly gaze
For the holidays, you can’t beat home, sweet home

If you are new here at Southern State of Mind- WELCOME! I’m Heather, the crazy-crafting-iced-coffee-drinking-mom behind the blog. My husband and I live in Atlanta with our two boys – ages 6 and 9. I have been blogging for around six years, ever since I was fortunate to stay home with my youngest.  This blog brings me so much joy and I am so glad you are joining me today to have a look around! One way to get caught up with me lately is to read my Front Porch Coffee Talks where I share what’s on my mind like friends chatting over coffee.

Today I will show you around our home – all decked out for Christmas.

So let’s get started on our front porch…

CHRISTMAS HOME TOUR  || THE FRONT PORCH

The front porch is one of our favorite spots in the house and it always seems to be the first spot I spruce up each season.  This year I shopped the house to see what I could find and I love that I didn’t spend any money assembling this year’s porch just by using old things in new ways! To see more details about the porch- click here.

PORCH SOURCES: BLACK & WHITE PLAID RUG |  LEOPARD RUG  |   WREATH | LARGE LANTERN |
  TALL BLACK PLANTER   |  GRAY ROCKING CHAIRS  |  RED PLAID PILLOWS|   TOPIARY

CHRISTMAS HOME TOUR  || FOYER

Our foyer is small so I kept things super simple in here. Just a new framed Nutcracker poster and I brought this buffalo check ottoman in from a guest bathroom. I love that blue and red combo together.

CHRISTMAS HOME TOUR  || NUTCRACKERS!

I had fun putting together a Nutcracker tree this year! I have since moved this into our den and put a family tree in this corner, but this was too fun not to share. Love pulling out these guys every year! My mother in law collected these for years and we ended up with a big portion of her collection when she downsized. She also has given us one every year since we’ve been married (15 Years!)  She also had all of these nutcracker ornaments.

CHRISTMAS HOME TOUR  || THE DINING ROOM

Ok, now let’s peak into the dining room. I had so much fun turning our dining room into a winter wonderland again this holiday season. Not sure what our plans for hosting are yet, but even if it is just the four of us in here, I do love that it will feel special.

CHRISTMAS HOME TOUR  || THE LIVING ROOM

Next let’s move onto the living room. This space got a quick update with nutcrackers and a few holiday details.

LIVING ROOM SOURCES: Blue Abstract Art  |   Blue Lamps   |   Gray Recliners  |  White Lamp  |   Ottoman Tray  |
White Throw Blankets |   Navy Pillows   |   Tan Pillows ( I added the Greek Key Trim)   |
White Diamond Indoor Outdoor Carpet Rug  | Blue & White Ginger Jar  | Coffee Table Book- Southerners Handbook|
Large Cutting Board Tray    | Silver Trophy Bucket  |    Large Two Toned Wicker Basket

And the Greek Key pillows that I made last year are still holding on strong.  Last year I made these my  ordering four of these velvet pillows (a two pack for only $12.99!) and Greek key trim (using my 40% off coupon). Would you believe I just glued it on with Liquid Stitch? A year later they are still holding up great and the perfect little detail in this room.

CHRISTMAS HOME TOUR  || THE BAR

This part of the house doesn’t get shown very often- it is between the dining room and kitchen. I added a fun tassel and two small trees on this side…

and a garland for pinning up our Christmas cards on this side!

Merry Merry my friends! That is all for today.  If you are interested in receiving updates every time I post, please > SUBSCRIBE HERE < Be sure to head over to see Laura at Duke Manor Farms blog for all her Christmas home touches.  And be sure click around below at all of the lovely Christmas homes- so much inspiration!

    Heather–I always love touring your house. I don’t think I’ve ever seen your bar and I know I haven’t seen the dining room since you did the ceiling–it looks amazing. Your shoes are just perfect; I checked but my size is gone. Maybe next year! Also love how you save your Christmas cards on rings–I’ll have to file that idea away. Merry (early) Christmas to you and your family!

    Love it all. Your porch is such a favorite place and also inviting me to sit for a while. I absolutely love all of your nutcrackers. What an amazing collection and that nutcracker tree is so fun. I love how you have displayed your collection all around the house. Thanks so much for joining the tour again this season, your home is one of my favorites to visit.
