For the first time ever, our bedroom is decorated for Christmas! It sure does bring a smile to my face when I walk in here – I think Mrs. Claus would approve. I am so thankful that after seven years of living in our home, I finally gave this room a proper makeover last spring. (You can read all about that HERE.) Once it finally had some style, it was only fair to give it a holiday update.
But can you guess what the one item was that I found along the way that gave me the inspiration for this holiday look? Read on…
Last spring, just as I was completing the room makeover, I found this king red velvet Ralph Lauren bed skirt for $3 while out on the hunt. Yes- THREE DOLLARS. I was absolutely giddy and knew it would be gorgeous in a holiday room! So I snatched it up, gave it a cleaning, and tucked it away for about 6 months. I figured it would pretty much make any room feel festive… and I was right!
With the red velvet in place, it didn’t take much else to make this room feel festive. This was the fun part! The tree was an extra that floats around the house depending on my mood, and I LOVE having the lights in here. The poinsettia was Home Depot Black Friday deal, and the bow above the bed was from my stash. I swapped out the framed photos to a few old family Christmas favorites.
The green velvet and plaid pillows are all from my stash. (Tip- the plaid pillow covers can be removed from the down pillow inserts and easily stored away.)
The entire room is definitely giving me vibes of the parents bedroom from the Home Alone house. Don’t you think?
I think this might be my new favorite holiday tradition!
XOXO-
