Eight weeks down and a finished bedroom to show for it! Which means it is REVEAL DAY! As a reminder, I set out to whip our primary bedroom from a collection of leftover furniture to a comfy and relaxing space with a little swank and swagger. I am so incredibly thankful for these challenges to help keep me focused on one space and give me a deadline. Today I am thrilled to share the final reveal of our primary bedroom. It has been a labor of love and it feels great to have this room more pulled together.
Over the past 8 weeks I have shared updates from new DIY art, to a built-in bench to the statement wall and the sitting area. I am thrilled with the way this room came together and am so happy to have a pulled together space for my family to relax. So let’s take a look at the final transformation! I’ve included all of the weekly posts below as well as tried to source all of the items I used. Let me know if you have any questions.
PRIMARY BEDROOM MAKEOVER || THE FINAL REVEAL
As a reminder, here are the before photos. Nothing was offensive, it just had ZERO wow factor and was almost a blank slate, even after six years after moving in.
And now let’s oooooh and aahhhhh at the after! You might recall that since this room is large I planned to break out the room into 4 different zones:
- The Bed Nook
- The Sitting Area
- The Built-In Window Seat
- The Dresser Vignette
There ended up being a bonus area with a table and chairs as well!
Primary Bedroom Makeover || The Bed Nook
Let’s start with the bed nook- this little alcove got a serious swank factor update! The biggest transformation here is definitely the statement wallpaper wall. It is a faux peel and stick grasscloth with beautiful texture and pattern from Tempaper. But I also changed out the light fixture, made new valances and got a new bed. Oh- and can you believe I thrifted that pretty green gingham bench for $30?

Primary Bedroom Makeover || The Sitting Area
The sitting area before was prime real estate for some fun new pieces. I think every single piece here changed!

I swapped sofas with another area in the house, painted an old coffee table that was wood and silver to be black and gold, and bought a fun new antelope rug to really define the space. But my favorite part are the new barrel swivel chairs. They are from Wovenbyrd and they are so swanky!
Primary Bedroom Makeover || The Built-In Window Seat
This might be my favorite nook in the whole room! What was once a bare built in now has so much personality and purpose. I have been stewing on this area for YEARS and priced out custom cushions a couple times. Dare I say it was worth the wait? With a DIY cushion, some DIY art and pillows I had around the house- I think this little nook really came together!

Primary Bedroom Makeover || The Dresser Vignette
What happens when you find a massive $40 piece of art at the thrift store and turn it into some abstract art? And then find a pair of massive vintage lamps for $26 with the most lovely scalloped shades? You put them all together on your dresser and stand back and smile! I also added this bowl for the golf obsessed hubs to corral all of his golf score cards. I usually find them scattered all around the house so I hope this helps give them a landing spot.

Primary Bedroom Makeover || Table & Chairs
This wall housed a long forgotten cluttered bookshelf for so long that I almost forgot to include it when I first thought about the room! But when it came time to really think about how to make this area functional, I decided that a table would be most useful. I plan to use this space for packing for trips, or last minute homework assignments or for morning devotions. I love the black tulip table and found the pair of chairs for $2o at my thrift store. I’d love to put some skirted parsons chairs here someday so will be on the lookout for those… but for now I am happy with having this more purposeful and functional area in here.

Alright! Well that does it for the room. I know I will continue to tweak things but am so happy to have a room that feels more put together and “me!”
I think Piper is happy too…

Wow Girl. Impressive. I might be inspired again to do some diy art. I would definitely want to hang/hide out in the room.
