Southern State of Mind Blog by Heather

Summer in the South- Fourth of July Decor

in holidays, Lifestyle, Seasonal Home Tours on 06/20/14

If this is your first time visiting Southern State of Mind,

I am so glad you are here!

Welcome to Summer in the South!

Aaaahhhhhh….SUMMER!

It’s in full swing here in Atlanta.

I love summers in the south and all of the traditions of our city.

The Peachtree Road Race, the Lenox Fireworks, and the blue hydrangeas.

Oh…and the heat. 🙂

I spent some time this week giving the house some patriotic touches. With baby boy arriving in 5 days (WHOA!) I figured it was now or never if we want to have any red white and blue around the house for the Fourth of July.

The front porch is ready festive with a couple of flags,

bunting and a star-spangled rug.

The dining room is shining her red, white and blue.

Earlier this week, I showed you how I made this vintage scarf table runner using Jacqueline Kennedy as my inspiration in the Summer Style Soiree.

I love how the patterns mix together!

Have I ever mentioned that the Fourth is one of my favorite holidays? I just love the casualness and festiveness of the summer holiday.

The family room has a few nautical touches to celebrate summer.
(and some new black and white pillows from Ikea- love!)

Did I mention I LOVE blue hydrangeas?
Seriously, is there anything more beautiful or summery?

I recently posted about the face lift to the courtyard. It already had a patriotic vibe going so I just added a few flags.

Thanks so much for checking out my summer home tour. I am really excited to be joining some other seriously talented bloggers- 23 to be exact! Be sure to click below for some summer eye candy!

Be sure to check out all the tours so you don’t miss anything exciting.

You have a beautiful home. Love all the festive touches. Will be glad when our exterior painting is done so I can add some patriotic inspiration outdoors as well.

Ha, yeah I should probably be reading up on how to manage life with two kids, but decorating for the 4th is WAY more fun! 🙂

Love it, Heather! And I'm impressed that you're still up to decorating with just 5 days left before your boy gets here!! Go girl! Also – those hydrangeas!!! One of my favorite flowers 🙂 I'm waiting for mine to bloom so I can put some cuttings around the house!

First of all, can I tell you how impressed I am that you got your house all decked out for the 4th so late in your pregnancy?! I really enjoyed touring through your house – you've got a great knack of mixing colors and textures to create beautiful spaces. Thanks for linking up to Best of the Nest and wishing you the best for an easy delivery!
