Morning! Things have been crazy for me around here, between the beach trip, a whirlwind trip to Charlotte this past weekend, a sick kid, and then a sick mom (bleh), I am so glad to be home this week with some cooler weather to feather my nest. Aaahhh, fall temperatures have finally arrived here in Atlanta and I could not be more thrilled!
In the midst of the crazy, I made a quick update to the foyer last week that I am super smitten with. And of course, since it is “No Spend-tember” I only used supplies I had on hand so this little makeover cost me zero!
I’ve had this umbrella holder in my foyer for years. YEARS! So long that I didn’t even “see” it anymore. Can you relate? Stuff just becomes invisible, especially when it’s something so plain and boring.
I decided to give it a little sprucing up. First, it got a coat of Rustoleum Heirloom White spray paint, then I taped it off to give it a coat of black paint to get my stripes. As you know, I am not a perfectionist so my lines are not perfect. I let go of perfection long ago… this is supposed to be fun after all!
Once I had my stripes, I added the monogram with some gold paint. Here is a shot after two coats. Honestly, it probably took about 4 coats to get full coverage and it still isn’t perfect. But like I said, any improvement here is better than nothing, especially when it costs me nothing! 🙂
The inside was looking a little rough and rusty..I guess that is what years of wet umbrellas will do!
It got a pop of green paint, using leftover Rustoleum Meadow Green spray paint.
OK, now I can’t decide what part of this makeover I love the most!
Oh I love it. I have been hunting for an umbrella stand, so maybe I just need to DIY one. Yours looks fabulous.
I love it! Such a cute idea and what a steal on that umbrella!
