Hey friends! Happpppy Thursday! I’m popping in today with a super simple DIY perfect for spring and summer- how to make a Pom Pom Purse Charm! This is part of the “My Dollar DIY” series and I love how this monthly post forces me to get crafty. For anyone out there that is crafty, you know what I mean when you just have a crafting itch that needs to be scratched sometimes! The best part is that I can usually use things I have around the house and an item or two from the Dollar Tree to come up with a fun little project.
For this month we decided to focus on DIY accessories… and before you start shaking your head about accessories from the Dollar Store, take a look at what I came up with. A pom-pom purse charm! Wouldn’t this also be so cute on a straw beach bag?
How to Make a Pom Pom Purse Charm
To get started, I just needed a few items.
- Key chain clasp- I found this tassel key chain at the Dollar Tree and just removed the tassel part
- Pom Poms- variety of colors
- Embroidery thread (I am showing gray here but decided to use black…)
- Needle (with a large eye- dig in your sewing kit until you find the biggest one you have!)
Once I had my supplies ready to go, I arranged the pom-poms in the order I wanted them to appear on the strand. At first I was only going to do blue, green and pink but then decided to go all in with lots of different colors. But the options are endless!
Once the pom-poms are arranged, cut some embroidery thread to size and tie a knot on one end. Then just start threading your pom-poms on! When you are done, just tie another knot on the other end.
I think this would be a cute detail for a straw beach bag too! Just go looking through you closet and see what you can add a little colorful pom-pom to!
