DIY Striped Vase

in create, Dollar Store Crafts, Simple Gifting on 05/25/17

Good morning friends! Happy almost three day weekend! Do you have any fun plans? We are heading down to 30-A to Seagrove Beach and I CANNOT WAIT! We are also still working on our big news that I will be sharing VERY soon so be sure to check back!

Today I am sharing a quick tutorial that literally ANYONE could do.  It is perfect for your clippings from the garden this summer. If you are here in Atlanta, you know the hydrangeas are already in full bloom around town.

To get this cute striped vase, all you need is a simple glass vase, some spray paint and some painters tape. I found my vase at the Dollar Tree and for the paint, I used a Rose Gold which is such a fun color. I am already trying to come up with some more things I can paint with this pretty color!

STEP 1: Striped Dollar Tree Vase

Make your stripes with painters tape. I wanted the Rose Gold color to be on the top and bottom of the vase so I used painters tape to first make a stripe along the bottom. Then I used that line of tape to add another row of tape. Once that row was done, I removed the first strip of tape and just put it on the top of that row as a guide. Basically each stripe is the width of a strip of painters tape.

STEP 2: Striped Dollar Tree Vase

Time to paint! As I mentioned, I used a new to me Rose Gold color but you could use any color! I did two coats- the first coat I sprayed when it was upside down and the second was standing up. Tip- stick newspaper or something down in the vase. This way you won’t get overspray on the inside that you can see when you take the painters tape off.

STEP 3: Striped Dollar Tree Vase

Clip some summer flowers from your garden! Here you can see my Oakleaf Hydrangea along with some eucalyptus from Trader Joes.

I think these would be great if you needed to make lots of centerpieces inexpensively for a party, shower or wedding.

Here are some other great summer Dollar Store projects to inspire!

So chic!! I haven’t tried any rose gold yet. I know…it’s probably time to get off the gold train and hop on a new one! I always love your clippings arrangements – super inspiring! xo
