Ferns & Flags- A Southern Summer Front Porch

in Inspiration on 06/05/15

Happy Friday! Do you have any fun plans for the weekend? We will be pooling, boating and eating our way through the weekend. Not bad. Not bad at all!

While we are on the subject of porches, I figured I would share my front porch with you, too.

Ferns and Flags? Must be summer!

For the first time, I decided to do ferns in my front urns and I could not be happier. I absolutely love the way they fill the space and so far they appear to be black-thumb-proof. Not sure why I never thought to use them before but they really make me happy. (have I ever mentioned I am easy to please?)
The flag is a main-stay on the front of the house except in the harsher winter months. (ha, yes we get “harsh” winter months here in Atlanta)
The day lilies are in full bloom and I love the color they add.
The front door has the wreath I made using Spanish moss from Hilton Head and oysters from the beach in Florida. Not only do I love the way it looks, I love that it has two special family trips associated with it.
Here you can see the pop of Haint Blue on the porch ceiling. This was a simple project I did years ago and I love the contrast with the light blue.
Thanks for stopping in.
Happy weekend sunshines!
xoxo,
Heather
