Congratulations!
Today is your day
You’re off to great places
You’re off and away
Today is the boys first day of school and while part of me is rejoicing for the normalcy, it just all feels a bit … odd. It’s been a busy week prepping for the first day and *attempting* to wake up the little people to prepare for the early start time. Let’s just say it didn’t go well for any of us, ha! Five months is a long time to get used to elastic pants and no alarm. But we are excited for the new year and new school and I am just prepared to take it all one day at a time. It’s going to be a wild ride. I’d love to hear what is happening with your school so grab your coffee and meet me on the porch, it’s time for this week’s Front Porch Coffee Talk.
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
The boys start school – 3rd grade and kindergarten- TODAY and it has been a busy and emotional week leading up to it for me. I think having your baby go to kindergarten is emotional enough. And both boys are starting a new school. And when you add in a pandemic and everything going on, it is really so many emotions to wrestle with. Our school is independent, so while the entire metro Atlanta district is virtual, we do applaud our school for doing everything they can to go back in person. I have been fervently praying for health and happiness among the teachers and the kids in all of the different situations. We are doing a rolling start so half the school rotates every other day for the first week and then the plan is to all be in full time by next Friday.
FACE MASK LANYARD
My bestie made these cute personalized face mask lanyards for her kids for back to school. I think this is such a great idea and I am hoping to tackle once I have a free morning. Have I mentioned I am happy to have some free mornings? 🙂 She said she grabbed all of the supplies at her local Michael’s.
THE GO-TO DRESS
I wore this dress last week at Lake Toxaway, and when I say “wore”, I mean it was my g0-to dress for just about every occasion! For the road trip up, riding along for a golf game in the golf cart, to dinner, on the boat for an evening cruise one night and then on our car ride home. It comes in lots of patterns and is only $30! Perfect for fall with booties and a cute jean jacket too! Shop the dress HERE!
WALMART STYLE
I’ve been sharing my Walmart finds with you here and I have another one for you today! I’m working on rounding all of these up in a full post for you (again when I have some free time and the kids are back in school!)
This cute feminine lace blouse is super cute on and only $13! I am showing it here with some button fly jeans (only $20!) , a Cinnamon and pale pink scarf and leopard slides. All from Walmart and all a total bargain.
LACE BLOUSE || LEOPARD SLIDES (mine are only available in store) || BUTTON FLY JEANS || TRAVEL SCARF (found in store)
The camo jacket in this week’s Front Porch Coffee Talk picture is also a Walmart find! It is a light linen blend. The fit is a little boxy but I think it will be a great fall layer with jeans and a white tee. Shop the Camo jacket HERE!
PROGRESS || SWEET P’s BEDROOM MAKEOVER
I am still plugging along on his room makeover- although I do have to admit I temporarily lost my mind and got to work in the playroom this week. It’s all a domino effect and I sometimes don’t know where to start to sort through the mess. But I do feel like we are slowly making progress. While my goal was to have his room complete before school starts, we did make lots of progress and I will keep working at it over the coming weeks We are close!
This week we hung the bulletin board and a few other new art pieces. This room is far from Pinterest perfect- but he LOVES it and I am happy that it is feeling more organized!
