Sweet P turned NINE, and we “huddled” up to celebrate! It’s tough having a summer birthday, and when you add in a pandemic, I have to admit I was starting to stress about pulling something off for him. This football themed party ended up being the perfect activity for him and a few buddies to gather and celebrate. We asked everyone to wear their favorite team jerseys and kept it simple with a backyard flag football game. And cake, of course!
Of course, I had some fun making it fun and festive. This was actually pretty easy because we have collected quite a few football themed things throughout the years and now the boys have some of their own so I just used whatever I could find around the house.
I knew we had some extra jerseys so I found a few spots to use them. Turns out football jerseys are the perfect size for pillow covers!
They also make great bar stool back covers. The large inflatable football on the counter ended up being a fun toy for them to bounce around in the trampoline and toss in the yard.
For the decor, we used the turf football runner that I bought a few years ago for a Superbowl party. This thing has come in handy more times than I could have imagined the past couple years. The boys have a few containers of these football guys and they had fun setting them up around the cake.
The party favors were easy too! We found these NFL team cups and placed an Atlanta Falcon key chain in each of them. Why do all kids like key chains?
He absolutely loved the way his cake turned out! This came from Publix, and they always come through for me.
We also grabbed these face decals and the boys loved putting these on their faces. These are better than temporary tattoos because they are just face sticker.
We also had a fun football themed breakfast on his birthday and I had fun making football pancakes. I just used a little frosting and brown sprinkles for the “laces”.
