Happy Friday friends! Hope your week has been great. I’ve missed you!! Grab yourself a cup of coffee and let’s chat! Is anyone else feeling the strain of the dog days of summer? I am still struggling to find any extra time for the blog with the kids home so please just bear with me for a few more weeks. I have some fun content planned for September that I can’t wait to get started on! (and why is it soooo hot?)
But for now, let’s just catch up over some coffee, shall we? I want to hear all about what you’ve been up to.
Is it back to school time for you yet? It was a big week around here because Sweet P started second grade. Sweet B is still hanging with mom for another two weeks before the start of Pre-K so it is a bit of a slow start to really get back in the swing of things. We are entering our second year at a school that specializes in dyslexia and I know he is going to have a great year!
Of course, we had to snatch our jumpy pic again this year. I tried it with a video this time and it definitely didn’t work as well. But, it’s all about remembering this fun moment in time before sending him off to figure out how to sort out life on his own. Sniff, sniff. (and by the way, this parenting gig is REAL!!)
Last weekend we wanted to enjoy one last hoorah before back to school and decided to “Shoot the Hooch”. This is a rite of passage here in Atlanta and something I actually listed on my 45×45 Bucket List last March. If you aren’t familiar- shooting the hooch simply means tubing down the Chattahoochee River. The parents had fun texting and planning our adventure in the days leading up to it, and the afternoon was a complete hoot. The kids LOVED it and are already begging to do it again. We decided to get our own gear and do it ourselves so I hope to share our tips and tricks in a post here in case it is something you’d like to do.
While I am sad to let go of the carefree days of summer, I must admit I am looking forward to having more routine around here. One thing I am SO excited about is getting back on a more regular diet and exercise routine. To help me kick it back into gear, I am pumped to be starting the FASTER WAY TO FAT LOSS program next week. I have been reading up on this program for nearly a year and even did periods of intermittent fasting this past spring. I finally decided it was time to try the whole program and am seriously giddy- I have never done anything like this before! I am mostly excited to have a program to follow and accountability because I will ALWAYS come up with an excuse to skip exercise or eat a basket of chips. ALWAYS.
The program starts this Monday,August 19th and I would love for you to JOIN ME! I do plan to share my progress and results with you here along the way. I would also love to hear if you have had success with this program! It’s always more fun to do a program with friends so definitely let me know if you are joining! We can talk cute work out clothes and carb-cycling together. 🙂 There is a cost but it is the price of less than 4 visits that my husband has with his trainer so I feel that it is justified. Again, the accountability for me is such a big part of this!
I hope to dive in more about this with you to understand more of my “why”. But for now, consider this my before pic!
The MESS y’all. This has probably been the hardest thing for me to accept over the summer. With two boys home it is really a constant struggle and the summer just magnifies it. Knowing that I couldn’t control keeping most parts of the house clean this week, I turned to a glass door kitchen cabinet for some much needed cleaning release! This is one that had collected random glasses and dishes over the past two years so I purged and edited and came up with this. (would you believe that I got rid of 26 dishes/glasses?!?!) I am just loving the blue and copper. And while my kitchen counters and sink may be a complete disaster…. at least I can glance over here and smile. 🙂
My neighbor had her home featured in Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles magazine last spring. I found myself perusing it again this week and just studying how they decorated and styled it. So, so, so pretty!
Happy weekend!
xoxo-
Heather
I love your blog, you seem so real life!
i think you look great, but I totally understand about weight loss. I’ve done intermittent fasting for at least a year but I started slow it was hard for the first 8 months? Now my eating times are consistent with eating between 11am and 5or6pm? I can say it is much easier now!
Good luck!
Wow! Congrats on doing it for a year. I am starting it over again today since I got way off track.
