Last week, a few girlfriends and I snuck away on a fun 24 hour getaway to a farmhouse in Madison, GA. The home is on the farm of one of my sweet neighbor friends and she was so kind to host us. They recently renovated their farmhouse from the roof down to the floors after a family of skunks got in it last year and destroyed it. She said even the drywall had to go, can you imagine. Since weekends are hard with kids sports and activities, we went during the week which proved to be brilliant! Once we confirmed that the husbands could take care of the carpools and cover the crew for us- the plan was hatched for a girls getaway and we were on our way.

Madison is near Athens and a short hour drive from Atlanta. When we arrived we quickly dropped our things and went out to lunch. I had heard how charming downtown Madison was and was so glad to check it out. There were several cute home decor and accessories shops and we enjoyed a little shopping. We also drove around and looked at the charming Antebellum Homes near the downtown square. I am not sure why Sherman decided not to burn these homes in his March to the Sea, but am so grateful that we have these beautiful historic homes still standing!

After our bellies were full and our wandering was done, we went back to the house to explore the property for a cocktail hour off-road excursion on the ATV. As you know, we love Ranch Water around here and thought that these cute cups she had made for “Farm Water” were cute. (She’s the friend that introduced me to these a few years ago!)
The farm is over 2000 acres with 200 cows and 2 ponds. A group of city girls were probably quite a sight for these cows.
As I mentioned, they gutted the entire house and she has been busy decorating it. I know she has lots more plans for it, but I loved everything she had done so far.
I’ve shared this artist before on my spring home tour, but loved seeing our friend Katherine Wirth’s art here at the farmhouse as well. You can find her on Instagram HERE. Don’t mind the selfie, whenever I see her art out and about I snap a selfie with the art and text it to her! 🙂
Dinner was a meet and cheese board although we had planned to prepare a full meal. This, my friend, is the beauty of being with just ladies! We were all perfectly happy with this as our dinner!
After the past year of limited girls gatherings, I am so thankful to have had this time together! For more girls weekend inspiration CLICK HERE.
