Good morning friends! Hope you had a safe and socially distant weekend surrounded by your closest loved ones. All things considered, the weekend was busy making simple memories and for that I am grateful. Today I am joining some of my fave blogging friends to share our colorful spring homes. If you are a color-lover, then you are in for a big treat today. Just like last week’s tour, this was planned weeks before our lives dramatically changed. If you are not in the mood to look at house pictures today, I TOTALLY GET IT! But hopefully for those of you looking for a little escape, these colorful homes will bring a smile to your day. After all, that is the beautiful thing about blogging- we can be far apart and still feel connected.
If you are coming over from Jewel’s house– WELCOME! WELCOME! I just adore Jewel’s style and she is seriously amazing with what she can pull off as a military wife that is currently making over their 13th home. Every time she does a room reveal my jaw drops.
I am keeping it very simple and just sharing ten colorful and happy spots in my home to share with you today as part of the “It’s a Colorful Life Spring Home Tour.” As you will quickly see- I used lots of yellow, blue and green to add spring color to my home.
So let’s just jump right in!
|ONE| FRONT PORCH
Few seasons or holidays go by without the porch getting a little tweaking and this spring is no different. I usually repurpose lots of items I have around the house to spruce it up out here and here you can see some old pillows and the faux topiary that came out from my stash. . This year, I did grab a fun new striped outdoor rug. I have always loved our front porch, but this week more than ever before it has become such a wonderful spot to wave to neighbors walking by and help us feel more connected.
|TWO| A SIMPLE DIY FREE-TO-ME SPRING WREATH
The beauty of being forced to stay home is being forced to use what you already have! Using this beautiful Williams-Sonoma wreath as inspiration, I created my own eucalyptus and citrus wreath.. To make it, I just I grabbed a grapevine wreath from my stash and then wrapped a eucalyptus garland around it and then I hot glued some faux lemon and limes onto the wreath. For the finishing touch, I added some faux white flowers I had.
Is it perfect? NO. Does it make me smile? YES.
|THREE| FOYER
Our front foyer is pretty small so it is always an easy and simple spot to update. For the spring, I spray painted one of the benches that has floated around all over the house a fun shade of blue, and moved some of my bird art in here. The pillow is a DIY-I just hand painted an old pillow using the coveted Les Touches fabric as inspiration.
|FOUR| KITCHEN
In addition to the front porch, our kitchen island always seems to be a space I can’t wait to get my hands around here as the seasons and holidays change. The one update I made in here for spring are adding a vase of the Faux Lemon Branches. I found these at Target and absolutely love them in here- and they are not that much more expensive than fresh flowers!
|FIVE| KITCHEN TABLE
The kitchen table got a small dose of spring as well! I used the same Faux Lemon Branches and created some fun spring arrangements with my Double Happiness Ginger Jars.
|SIX| LIVING ROOM
Wow, this room has gone downhill fast the past week! Not sure how many socks are currently hiding under the ottoman but I sure am glad I snapped some pics before school was let out. So thankful for this space for our family to gather and relax!
|SEVEN| BUILT IN BOOKSHELVES
The bookshelves got a little update with my DIY landscape art- I am just really drawn to green and blue right now so this was a fun and simple project to give the built ins something fresh for spring. And I’m working hard to get that orchid to bloom again.
|EIGHT| A SIMPLE SPRING DIY VASE
The flower vase was a DIY from a few weeks back and I still absolutely love it with some (free) magnolia clippings. To see the tutorial for the Paint Dipped Colorblock Vase- click here.
|NINE| DINING ROOM
Currently known as our home school headquarters, I am glad I gave this room a quick spruce a few weeks ago. It feels very serene in here and I have big plans to continue to tweak this room again when things return to “normal”.
|TEN| CHEERFUL ART
Another touch of spring addition is this awesome art from a local artist and my talented friend Katherine Wirth Art. It is so cheerful and a bright spot in the house. Katherine recently started sharing her art with the world, if you are looking for a fun new piece or something commissioned- she is wonderful. Be sure to check out her Instagram here- @KATHERINEWIRTHART.
Well, that does it for our colorful tour today. Thanks for “stopping” by and keeping well within the 6 feet distance. 🙂
