Continuing with our “Eat, Drink & Be Thankful” theme this week, I am sharing more details on the flower arrangement I shared in yesterdays “Grateful For Girlfriends” post. I love this feminine twist on the classic Thanksgiving look by mixing pretty flowers with more fall colors. This fun flower centerpiece is the perfect finishing touch on the pretty table!
But here is the little secret on this flower arrangement…
It is pulling double duty because it pulls apart to become a party favor to give to your girlfriends when they leave!
What better way to let your friends know you are thankful for them than to share your pretty flower arrangement!?
Today I will share the supplies and steps I took to make this flower arrangement. It’s easy!
How to Make a Flower Arrangement That Doubles as a Parting Gift
Supplies Needed:
- Collection of Vases (I used these brown glass apothecary vases)
- Lots of Fresh Flowers
- A “Special” Item for Each Vase – dried lotus pods, pussy willow, pheasant feathers, cotton stems
- Mercury Glass Votives
- Fresh Eucalyptus
How to Make a Flower Arrangement That Doubles as a Gratitude Gift
Directions:
For my centerpiece, I started with a round vintage basket I had on hand to act as a tray. Then I added three larger cylinder vases in the center (these were from the Dollar Tree). Then, I layered the six matching brown glass apothecary vases (I found the pack for $20 on Amazon) around the clear ones.
For my flowers, I popped into Trader Joe’s and grabbed a bunch of flower in various bright and feminine colors. I used my vintage floral china for my color palate and knew I wanted lots of pinks and purples. (I decided to keep all of the yellow out of the mix)
Once I knew how the vases would work together, I grabbed each of them individually and added in a mix of flowers and an extra “special” item or two in each vase. For my special items, I used eucalyptus, dried lotus pods and pussy willow (all found at Trader Joe’s). I think a fun pheasant feather, cotton pick stems or anything you may already have would work great! I love a flag in July or glitter picks for the holidays!
Once the nine different vases were filled (3 large clear and 6 brown) I just clumped them all back together in the center to make one large arrangement.
Such a pretty impact when placed together for a nice ladies lunch! And such a fun gift to send with your girlfriends when they leave as a fun little thank you!

This would be a fun idea for any ladies luncheon and you could really do it inexpensively if you recycled glass jars as vases and maybe just tied ribbon around them. I hope you are inspired to recreate something similar for your next ladies get together!
